When Fire Country season 2 returns on Friday, April 5 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, we're in for a treat! Episode 5 of the season, "This Storm Will Pass," is going to be one for the books. Now that the synopsis has been shared for the episode, along with some telling promotional stills, we have a better picture of what's set to happen.

No, what's been shared so far doesn't shed any light on whether Cara or Diego made it through the accident in episode 4, "Too Many Unknowns," in one piece. But, I have a feeling they're going to be okay at least for now (for spoilers, click here). The information that has come out, however, does tease two wild plots, and I do mean wild. Let's dive in!

There have been some insanely good incidents that have happened on Fire Country this season but the midpoint might just take the cake! The official synopsis for "This Storm Will Pass" is as follows: "The station 42 crew must protect Edgewater and take cover when an extremely rare and dangerous fire tornado leaves lives in peril."

A fire tornado hits Edgewater

Yes, you read that right. A fire tornado hits the town. Now, you may be asking, "What is a fire tornado? Is that even a real thing?" And let me tell you, they are real and they are terrifying.

According to the Library of Congress, via the definition provided by Neil P. Lareau, a professor and atmospheric scientist at the University of Nevada, Reno, a fire tornado is "a massive stream of rising, spinning, smoke, ash and fire" otherwise known as a fire-generated vortex and it "initiates its own weather system helping to concentrate the rotation."

Lareau discovered that it was a fire tornado that accelerated the 2018 Carr Fire in California. The vortex "spun with the power of an EF-3 tornado and rose 17,000 feet above Earth." That doesn't sound like anything you want to be in the path of and yet all of our heroes will be.

Bode, Cara, and Diego will be dealing with the pressure of finding cover after a major accident which likely injured them all, perhaps even critically for the latter two. Sharon, Vince, Gabriela, and Jake will be sheltering in place with a group of kids in what looks like a barn. Meanwhile, Eve, Manny, Cole, and the rest of Three Rock will be waiting the storm out in what appears to be Smokies.

The Three Rock group, however, have their own drama to deal with outside of the fire tornado. The tension is boiling over in their side of the episode. There was a glimpse of this in the teaser but a promotional still released confirms the crew will be under threat while taking cover.

Eve, Manny, and Three Rock deal with a gunman

It's still unknown who the gunman is but, based on the above still, we do know that Cole will somehow be involved. There's so many ways this plot could twist. The gunman might be a family member of the person Cole killed who doesn't want to see him thriving and bettering himself at the fire camp. Or Cole is the one who disarms him and saves the day after he's able to pass the shotgun to the correctional officer. Either way though this is sure to trigger a needed conversation between him and Eve about the night he took a life since that's the very reason she's planning on sending him back to prison.
