Mr. and Mrs. Smith follows John and Jane, a couple who's been married for a few years and is experiencing a "stagnating marriage," per the synopsis. Their lives are as normal as it gets. Or at least, that's what the other thinks. Secretly, each of them are assassins working for rival agencies. When the two field operatives are "assigned to kill the same target," the truth comes out. And there's another catch. They've been told to kill each other. Uh oh!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith has grossed more than $480 million

When the movie first hit theaters in June 2005, it was able to bring in $50.3 million, during opening weekend, which is a really good start for a film. Eventually, the action comedy grossed $478.2 million worldwide. This was against a budget of $110 million! Surprisingly, the production has a 6.5/10 on IMDb and 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 200 reviews.

I personally think it was, and still is, a good watch though. I highly recommend it! While it's been many times now, at the time of its debut this was a unique idea. Imagine two people who are married, each of them secret spies and not knowing the truth about their spouse. And then it's just an action-packed hilarious journey Jane and John go through. But at the end, they discover their love is stronger. Both Jolie and Pitt are so good in this movie. It's hard to skip over!

And if you're like me and enjoy the action comedy, I recommend you check out the new series adaption of the same name starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the lead roles. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith series is coming to Prime Video with all eight episodes on Feb. 2, 2024. So that's great news! If you want to watch the movie and series, then you can do so on the same platform through Prime Video. Though it's based on the film, the story of the show is quite different and unique. It won't feel like a carbon copy of the film. There's action, romance, and adventure. What more could you ask for!?

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith movie is streaming on Prime Video and Starz. The series premieres Friday, Feb. 2 on Prime Video.
