3 things to remember about AHS: Delicate before watching Part Two
AHS: Delicate (American Horror Story), the twelfth season of Ryan Murphy's fright-filled anthology series, will return with Part Two in April. Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts will reprise their characters and will deliver devious arcs to the storylines. Unlike the previous seasons, Delicate offers a glimpse of personal reflection regarding desires to start a family and the sometimes unsmooth journey pregnancy can lead to.
As this is AHS, events surrounding the primary narrative take ominous turns, and Delicate is no exception. It's what keeps the show's momentum pulsing as it unveils shocking twists and turns. It might be because Delicate is based on the 1960s cult hit Rosemary's Baby, except that the horror volume in the former is significantly increased.
Part One introduced us to the central characters, their developing intentions, and the plot points leading up to the climactic finale. But it wasn't the finale because we still have Part 2 to watch! To get ready for Part Two premiering on April 3, here's a recap of what happened in Part One.
3 key highlights about AHS: Delicate Part One before watching Part Two
Kim Kardashian nailed her role as Siobhan Corbyn
One of the biggest surprises of AHS: Delicate is Kim Kardashian bringing light to the publicist Siobhan Corbyn. We all know Kim from her reality shows, and aside from lending her voice in the Paw Patrol franchise and a few supporting film roles, she hasn't landed a starring project. However, Ryan Murphy changed all of that when he recruited Kim for the twelfth season.
It's obvious that Kim channeled her mother, Kris Jenner, for her character. Kris is fierce regarding her managerial work, and so is Siobhan. In fact, she even kicks it up a notch and "destroys" her client, Anna Alcott's (Emma Roberts) competitor, so that she can take home the award for her film.
If Siobhan was this cut-throat in Part One, she might become even more sinister in Part Two.
Anna Alcott tries to juggle pregnancy and her rising fame
It's tough when you try to balance wanting a family and your career. Anna Alcott (Emma Roberts) had her claim to fame reignited when her Indie film became a major Box Office success. While she tries to enjoy the spotlight, she also desires a baby. After completing an IVF treatment, Anna's finally pregnant.
However, as her pregnancy progresses, Anna is experiencing some very out-of-this-world complications. We're not talking about morning sickness, aching feet, and back problems, but supernatural forces trying to eliminate Anna's wish to become a mother. It's not unusual for AHS to experiment with dark and foreboding themes, yet how they intertwine with the narrative works wonders.
Now, as we were saying, Anna's supernatural complications include cravings for raccoons, weird figures in a Satanic Underground cult doing the unthinkable to Anna, and hallucinations. And it doesn't help when the people around her (including her husband) brush her concerns off.
As far. as Anna's booming film career goes, she's geting the recognition she deserves, but circumstances surrounding it are suspicious, just like her pregnancy. What we do know is that Siobhan is partially behind it, even if she doesn't admit to it.
This scenario could lead to the dissolution of Anna's and Siobhan's close friendship.
Dex Harding is the epitome of a gaslighter
Anna's husband, Dex Harding (Matt Czuchry) started off right as the supportive husband, but as AHS rolled on, he clearly believes that his wife is falsifying her complications. This puts an obvious strain on their marriage, but Anna sticks by him as he's the father of her child and like most women, takes her vows seriously.
Things only get more on edge when the couple stays at a secluded home in The Hamptons. Instead of obtaining some much-needed rest on Anna's part, Dex continues his gaslighting and dismisses her claims.
Honestly, Anna's better off without Dex.
What to expect from AHS: Delicate Part Two
Part Two will continue Anna's pregnancy journey, and according to the teaser trailer, Siobhan becomes the villain we all feared she'd be.
"Oh, no, babe. I am so much worse," Siobhan evilly says.
