A beloved Bold and the Beautiful vet has been cast in the new CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates
By Sabrina Reed
All eyes are turning to Beyond the Gates (formerly known as The Gates) now that the casting announcements have started. Eagerly awaiting soap lovers have gotten a taste of what to expect thanks to reported character descriptions prior to the official rollout. It's important to note that those may or may not stick and the names of the characters likely won't either but it's exciting nonetheless.
There's been hope that soap opera veterans and darlings who've been off-screen for awhile will be able to make a return in this CBS daytime original. I know I've had my fingers and toes crossed for that possibility and I've gotten my wish. A former The Bold and the Beautiful star is in the cast!
Karla Mosley is Dani Dupree on Beyond the Gates
Longtime fans of The Bold and the Beautiful know Karla Mosley for her work as Maya Avant on the soap. She made her first appearance in 2013, introducing the audience to a character fresh from jail, without her daughter, and looking to start over.
Maya's unexpected and beautiful romance with Rick Forrester won the hearts of many as the two fell in love. It was later revealed that Maya is trans, opening the character up to a fuller background as her family came to town and we learned what it took for her to grow into the woman she knew herself to be and the life she wanted. The last update on Maya on the soap was that she and Rick were getting a divorce and that they're sharing custody of their daughter, Lizzie Forrester.
On Beyond the Gates, Mosley will be playing Dani Dupree. The only characteristics she and Maya share are that they're both moms and former models. Dani, however, is billed as a momager who gave up her "high-flying modeling career" for love. The Duprees are a well-to-do family and Dani was their wild child. She's described as "free-spirited, headstrong, and uninhibited." Dani knows what she wants and goes for it even if that means dropping out of school like she did to model.
Mosley's casting marks her third turn in a CBS daytime soap opera. She starred on Guiding Light as Christina Boudreau, a pre-med student who developed a romance with and later married Remy Boudreau, played by The Bold and the Beautiful's Lawrence Saint-Victor. Mosley also played Amanda Sinclair on The Young and the Restless in a temporary capacity as Mishael Morgan recovered from emergency eye surgery.
The actress is joined by fellow CBS soap vet Tamara Tunie (As the World Turns), who stars in Beyond the Gates as Anita Dupree. Dani's mother and the matriarch of the family, Anita is as glamorous as you'd think a now retired famous singer would be. She and her husband, a retired senator, raised two daughters together. But, for as refined as Anita can be, she has a fierceness that was bred into her through her experiences growing up in Chicago.
Daphnee Duplaix (One Life to Live) plays Dani's sister, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson. She is a philanthropist and psychiatrist with a competitive streak. Her high-achieving extends to her home life with her husband who is a surgeon. Nicole is known to be warm, empathetic, and compassionate but her "perfect" life isn't all that it seems.
