Well, Fire Country fam, we knew season 2 episode 5 "This Storm Will Pass" was going to fill us in on who survived the ambulance accident in "Too Many Unknowns." I'm sure we all pretty much bet the correctional officer we knew nothing about would be dead and the episode did confirm that early on which meant we were likely going to have to brace for a more significant death to come around the corner.

This episode turned the heat up, literally, as a fire tornado wreaked havoc on Edgewater and the surrounding area, decimating buildings. It wasn't a pretty sight to see and it also resulted in lines of communication breaking down. This left Bode, Diego, and Cara without immediate medical assistance which is never good let alone in a disaster scenario like a flaming tunnel of wind bearing down on you. So who made it out alive and who didn't? Let's get into it.

Who dies in Fire Country season 2 episode 5?

Surprisingly, Diego was barely banged up after the accident. Sure, a tree went through the window but its branch got jammed in the steering wheel and that's what kept him pinned before Bode could get to him. Once Bode was able to break the window and get enough leverage to remove the branch, Diego was free to move about as he pleased which was vitally important considering the condition Cara was in.

She had been impaled. The piece of metal stuck in her torso was staunching the blood so she wouldn't bleed out, but when Diego threw the keys for Bode to catch so he could unlock himself from the gurney and help him, she moved to grab them. In doing so, she pulled herself off the piece of metal and her condition began to get worse.

Not only was she suffering from a massive bleed in her torso, Cara had banged her head during the crash. She'd been checking her eyes to see if her pupils were dilated and, unfortunately, they were. This meant that she had a brain bleed and would need immediate attention. However, they had no way of letting anyone know where they were.

When Diego's radio began to crackle to life, he put out a call for help but Cara was fading fast. He instructed Bode to breathe for her and later he broke out the defibrillator. At that point, they had Vince, Sharon, Jake, and Gabriela on the line as they tried to make their way to their location, but they were still too far out. Cara flatlined as Jake tried to talk to her to get her to hold on. It was a heartbreaking moment that was followed by Cara's burial where she was laid to rest with her family present, including her daughter Genevieve.

With the question of whether Bode actually is Gen's biological father still hanging in the air, and Vince and Sharon just learning that they may have a granddaughter, on top of Jake grieving and trying to help Gen process yet another loss, expect a lot of emotional scenes going forward on Fire Country.
