A new NCIS series lands in October (and it's for ears-only!)
By Sabrina Reed
The NCIS franchise keeps on giving! In the 2024-2025 television season, the flagship, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney will all air with the Paramount+ original NCIS: Tony & Ziva likely not too far behind. Now, it's been announced that another podcast is being added to the mix as well!
Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, hosted by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, launched back in June. It's been pulling double duty, giving fans a look back at the series while providing never before known behind the scenes details and being a source of promo for the actors' upcoming spin-off series. Now, there's 48 Hours: NCIS to look forward to in October.
Debuting on Oct. 29, the podcast is an unscripted fare that will be hosted by broadcast journalist and The Talk host Natalie Morales. If you've enjoyed CBS' The Real CSI: Miami, this pod will likely be a new favorite for you to listen to in the car, while you clean, or however you enjoy your audio shows. The first season will be six episodes long and will see Morales taking us through cases real life Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents worked on.
48 Hours: NCIS' premiere episode will follow the disappearance of Erin Corwin, the wife of a marine, who'd gone missing in Joshua Tree National Park. She was 19 years old and it took two months for her body to be found. Investigators had traced the evidence to an abandoned mine. A Marine was suspected of the murder. In the episode, there will be twists and turns including revelations of infidelity and betrayal. It's been 10 years since Corwin's death.
When speaking about her job as host, Morales said the following:
"Growing up in a military family, I am honored to be able to tell the stories of those who have and continue to serve our country, and to offer unique insights into the inner workings of the NCIS as they help solve cases. Erin Corwin’s story as a newly pregnant, young military wife is especially heartbreaking. It took the dedication of many NCIS agents to help find her in difficult desert conditions and to solve the mystery of how she died and who was responsible."
The journalist is no stranger to 48 Hours as she was a correspondent for the television program. This new podcast, however, does mark the second time these two franchises crossed. Back in 2017, a series by the same name launched. It was narrated by Rocky Carroll, known to NCIS fans as Director Leon Vance, and ran for three seasons. At one point, the show was retitled to NCIS: They Cases They Can't Forget. The series no longer seems to be available on Paramount+, it covered Corwin's case during its second season.
48 Hours returns Saturday, Sept. 21 for its new season on CBS. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and follow us on X!
