A new thrilling drama from Will Trent author Karin Slaughter is coming but not to ABC (What to know)

If you've been enjoying Will Trent on ABC, you're going to want to put another adaptation of Karin Slaughter's page turners on your watch list. While you can't count on a Slaughter universe to be built on the network (just yet!), you can bet the success of her series from book-to-screen means we're going to be getting more of them. The next to hit the small screen is The Good Daughter.

The best news for fans of the author is that she'll be writing all the episodes for the series which will be making its way to Peacock. A release date has yet to be announced but Deadline reports that Slaughter is executive producing the project along with Jessica Biel who is also set to star in a lead role.

What will you be in for with this show? Well, it's been touted as a psychological suspense thriller and it's going to be focused on a pair of sisters. Biel plays Charlotte Quinn, who along with her sister Samantha, has spent 28 years picking up the pieces after a violent night changed their lives forever. Now an adult, Charlotte is a lawyer just like her father, and when another attack happens in Pikeville, it forces her to confront the past. It's not an open and close case, the shocking revelations just keep coming and, this is where the title comes into play, she and Samantha will be left wondering if being "the good daughter" is worth the price it costs.

With this being a limited run, you can expect The Good Daughter to be wrapped up in a series of episodes that'll have us on the edge of our seats. However, it also means that this is a one and done, you can't expect a second season.

We'll continue to update you as more information comes in about this highly anticipated thriller. Jessica Biel has begun to make a name for herself in this genre. She was an executive producer on Freeform's Cruel Summer which had a critically acclaimed first season. And she played Candy Montgomery in Hulu's Candy, a five night event that told the story of the infamous woman accused of murdering her neighbor, Betty Gore, with an axe. Biel was an executive producer on that series as well.

The Good Daughter is the third adaptation of Karin Slaughter's work to be picked up to order. Pieces of Her is streaming on Netflix. Will Trent is currently in its second season on ABC and its streaming home is Hulu.
