Whitney Cummings

Cummings does many things in the industry - actress, writer, producer, director, and host of her own podcast. But, the star is probably most known for her stand-up comedy. She's hilarious, and it's so exciting to see that she'll be one of the first guests on After Midnight! Her comedy specials include I'm Your Girlfriend on HBO and Jokes on Netflix. Elsewhere, Cummings also created the popular television comedy 2 Broke Girls.

And yet another comedian joining Tomlinson tonight is Braunohler! His first comedy special was Trust Me on Comedy Central. He regularly appears on various late-night shows, as well as on Chelsea Lately on E!. The comedian previously hosted improv game show Bunk.

What the new show is about

The late-night/game show is still a bit of a mystery in terms of what we can expect to see. Though based on the synopsis, it's described as "the smartest show on television about the dumbest things on the internet." Plus, episodes will cover what was trending online that day, "with a game show feel." In speaking with CBS New York, Tomlinson shared the following:

"It's like a fake game show. It's going to be some improv and playing around and banter and that talk show aspect, of course. But for the most part, these are jokes, these are like the smartest jokes about the dumbest things on the internet that day."

After Midnight has taken over the timeslot that The Late Late Show with James Corden used to hold, which came to an end in April 2023. It's also a reboot of @midnight with Chris Hardwick, a show that aired on Comedy Central from 2013-2017.

After Midnight premieres this evening, Jan. 16, 2024 at 12:37 a.m. ET on CBS. Episodes are also available to stream on Paramount+.
