American Idol season 23 will grace our screens come Spring 2025 but auditions for the hit singing competition are set to begin in August. The show is once again doing live virtual auditions dubbed "Idol Across America." This gives people in all 50 states and D.C. the opportunity to take a leap of faith and see if they can strike out on a journey toward stardom.

Prospective contestants who sign-up on the official site will have the chance to audition virtually before a producer on the show. If you've got the chops, or they think you should move onto the judges round, you'll be one step closer to realizing your dream. Pay close attention to when the casting call for each state takes place, while you can audition on any date regardless of location, you'll want to make sure you don't leave this to the last minute. Here's the full schedule:

  • Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi (Aug 12)
  • Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas (Aug 14)
  • Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina (Aug 16)
  • Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington (Aug 19)
  • Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania (Aug 21)
  • Nationwide open call (Aug 23)

  • Nationwide open call (Sep 11)
  • The South open call (Sep 13)
  • East Coast open call (Sep 17)

These video chats will take place over Zoom and will go in order of the timeslot you reserved for your audition. If you can't make the open casting calls, other methods of auditioning for American Idol season 23 include uploading a Social Media Audition video (on either Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter/X) or submitting an audition video to the American Idol Online Audition portal. For more information on online audition videos, click here, the submission window closes on Oct. 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. PT and a producer will be in touch with you around Nov. 1 via phone or email if you're selected for a call back.

In order to be eligible for an audition, you must be 15 or older by Feb. 15, 2025, this means the competition is only open to those born between June 2, 1995 and February 15, 2010. You must also be a U.S. resident who is authorized to participate during the competition and for any post-show commitments.

American Idol season 23 will introduce a new judge, Country Music star Carrie Underwood, who is taking over for Pop diva Katy Perry. Underwood is in a unique position. She won Idol in its fourth season and is the only judge who has experience with the show from the perspective of a contestant. That'll make her an invaluable resource for the rising stars hoping to realize their dreams through the competition. It also means that you can expect her to be quite honest about whether someone has the rigor and gumption to handle the challenge that's about to be set before them or if they need more time to grow in their talent.

Good luck to all who audition. We hope to see you on the small screen next year. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and follow us on X!
