Celebrate 100 years of Disney Magic on ABC with the 20/20 special (How to watch)

2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Disney company being in operation, and they have pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone can celebrate with them. The newest celebration comes in the form of a special episode of 20/20, titled: “Disney 100: A Century of Dreams.”

The special will include interviews and new footage from actors, writers, Imagineers, and more, all of whom will be discussing how the company grew and what it was like to be a part of it all.

"Disney 100: A Century of Dreams – A Special Edition of 20/20 takes viewers on a magical journey that started in 1923, featuring a century of stories and experiences that will touch the hearts of audiences everywhere. From the creation of the Disney Brothers Studio to modern beloved brands such as Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox, the core DNA of Disney remains the same: storytelling, creativity, innovation and optimism. The special is a celebration of the countless Disney creators, telling the story behind the story that will astonish even the biggest Disney superfans, and viewers will be treated to an inside look at an all-new Disney attraction.

The documentary chronicles all facets of the storied company — from animation to parks to television to music — spotlighting those who have played essential roles in Disney’s history. Starting with the creation of the iconic character Mickey Mouse and unspooling the story of how Walt Disney’s quest to make the very first feature-length animated film, Snow White, nearly bankrupted the young studio, viewers will learn how unbridled determination and imagination became the cornerstones of the Walt Disney Company."

When does “Disney 100: A Century of Dreams” air?

“Disney 100: A Century of Dreams” premieres on Thursday, December 14 at 9 PM ET. The special will run two hours long, moving from the very beginning of the company up to the present day.

In addition to providing a chronology of Disney's greatest moments, there will be plenty of interviews that discuss how Disney music is created, what it means to be the voice of a Disney princess, how the parks came to be, and more.

Where can you watch the 20/20 special?

The 20/20 special will originally air live on ABC. For those who don’t have ABC, it will be up on Hulu on Friday, December 15. It should also be on Disney+ before the end of the month, although the specific time for the Disney+ debut has not been announced.

This year has given Disney plenty of chances to celebrate their legacy, from new Disney 100 merch to the newest movie, Wish. The 20/20 special is bound to continue the excitement, showing audiences just how much work and passion went into creating the primary voice of childhood.
