14 celebs rumored to compete on Dancing with the Stars season 33

Dancing with the Stars season 33 might still be a few months away but rumors about the identities of the celebrities who will be taking to the ballroom next season are already starting to come streaming in via the rumor mill! 

The official cast for next season is expected to be announced in early September via Good Morning America, but a number of celebrities are starting to enter the conversation as potential candidates for the new season of ABC’s long-running series. As in past years, there are names in the mix that are both surprising and ones that make complete sense as stars ABC would reach out to for the series. 

From reality stars and athletes to household names and stars whose names have been caught in the headlines, ABC seems to be looking to cast a wide net for the next season of Dancing with the Stars which could result in quite an interesting season 33 cast! 

Dancing with the Stars 2024 casting rumors 

Needless to say, there is no shortage of celebrities whose names are starting to be tossed around as contenders for the next season of Dancing with the Stars and we imagine more will continue to enter the mix as summer goes along. At least one rumored contestant has spoken out about turning down an invitation to do the show and there are likely to be others who will politely decline as well. 

As we dive into the rumored stars on the Dancing with the Stars casting team’s radar, let’s remember to keep in mind that these are just rumors and the cast will not be official until ABC confirms it later this year! 

Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark has taken the basketball world by storm this year, so it’s not surprising that ABC has attempted to cast Clark on the next season of Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, it seems the WNBA star has turned down the show’s offer and will not be taking to the ballroom this fall. 

Joey Graziadei

Joey Graziadei stole fans’ hearts on The Bachelor, being praised as one of the best leads the show has ever had. So it’s of no surprise that fans are hoping he might return to ABC as part of the Dancing with the Stars season 33 cast and it seems ABC has their eye on him as well. 

ABC has a long-standing reputation for casting members of The Bachelor franchise for the show and many of the contestants have done incredibly well on the series with two Bachelorette leads even winning the series. While we’ll have to wait to see if ABC is able to bring him into the mix, Graziadei has expressed an interest in competing on the show. 

“I mean, it seems like a really fun opportunity. I know there was some buzz about it during the Flamenco date, because I was out there trying to dance, but yeah, I know I’ve been able to even talk to Charity through her experience that she just had, and it seems like she really enjoyed it, so it’s something I’m open to,” Graziadei told Parade. 

Gerry Turner

It seems Joey Graziadei might not be the only Bachelor ABC has its eye on. Rumor has it that ABC might also be looking to cast The Golden Bachelor lead Gerry Turner for the next season of the show. 

This rumor seems to be connected to an interaction shared between Turner and the Dancing with the Stars Instagram account, as Gerry commented that he was “ready to paint the floor gold” in replying to a tweet promoting his season of The Golden Bachelor last fall. That seems like a stretch to base his casting on the show, but The Golden Bachelor was a hit for ABC so it’s possible they could look to cast Turner on the show.

Joan Vassos

Interestingly, it seems there are also rumors that ABC might be considering casting The Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos on the show. The Daily Mail reported Joan might be in the mix, but I’m honestly not sold on this rumor as it seems unlikely ABC would have Joan competing on the show which will be airing this fall at the same time Joan’s season of The Golden Bachelorette will be airing.

Jennifer Lopez’s Exes

According to The Daily Mail, ABC is rumored to be interested in Jennifer Lopez’s exes Cris Judd and Casper Smart. It seems the rumors suggest that ABC is interested in the exes after Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck has become a point of discussion in the headlines which makes sense. However, we can’t honestly see ABC chasing no-name exes of Lopez’s for the show. 

Shohei Ohtani

Baseball player Shohei Ohtani is said to be on the ABC casting team’s radar after Ohtani made headlines when it was revealed his interpreter had stolen a reported $17 million from him in order to pay off gambling debts. ABC most certainly has shown a history of going after stars who end up in the headlines, but the one thing that could complicate this rumor is the fact that the baseball season typically runs into the early fall which would make it hard for an active player to do Dancing with the Stars. 

Sutton Stracke

According to rumors out of The Sun, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Sutton Stracke could become the next Bravo star to appear on Dancing with the Stars! 

Apparently an anonymous source dropped the following message on a Real Housewives rumor page hinting that Stracke has joined the cast,  "ABC has signed the newest southern fan favorite of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills up to dance on Dancing With The Stars, her huge popularity and quirky personality will keep people entertained next season."

ABC has cast a handful of stars from the Real Housewives franchise in the past, so we could definitely see there being truth to this rumor!

Gypsy Rose

Among the names rumored to be in the mix for Dancing with the Stars season 33 is Gypsy Rose, whose inclusion is likely to make her one of the more controversial contestants in the mix. 

Following her release from prison in December, Rose has been making waves as she begins the next chapter of her life and it seems Dancing with the Stars could be in the cards. ABC is rumored to be looking into casting Rose for season 33 which isn’t shocking as the show loves going after individuals who make headlines and casting Rose would definitely get fans talking. 

Jason Kelce

After retiring from the NFL last season, Jason Kelce is on the radar of at least one professional dancer on the cast! Pro Jenna Johnson told People that she would love to see Kelce take to the ballroom next season telling the outlet that he’d be “the perfect thing.” 

Dancing with the Stars has a long history of casting NFL players and Jason Kelce would definitely be a major get for the show given his rise in popularity in recent months, what with his brother Travis making headlines via his relationship with Grammy-winner Taylor Swift.

Amy Robach and TJ Holmes

The Sun hinted that former Good Morning America cohosts Amy Robach and TJ Holmes could be in teh mix for the next season of the show; however, there’s just one problem: ABC is the company that let them go following their scandal. In fact, Radar Online reported that ABC rejected the pair last season when they expressed a desire to appear on the show. Sure time has passed since they were let go from GMA, but it seems unlikely ABC would cast them on Dancing with the Stars. 

As a source told Radar Online, "Once you're out at Disney, you are out across the board on all the shows and affiliates.”

Parvati Shallow

Speaking of The Sun, the outlet reports that ABC might be looking to cast a former Survivor star this season with Parvati Shallow rumored to be in the mix for the next season of Dancing with the Stars. The Sun seems to hint that Shallow could be in the mix after her run on The Traitors, but if ABC is going to go after a member of that cast we’d much rather they go after Queen Phaedra Parks who stole the show in season 2!

Tom Sandoval

Former Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke has gotten the rumor mill running with speculation that Tom Sandoval could join the cast following in the footsteps of his ex, Ariana Madix. ABC does have a tendency to chase after controversial reality stars which Sandoval most certainly is following his cheating on Madix; however, there is one key reason we think this is going to be nothing more than a rumor. 

Sandoval was cast in the upcoming third season of The Traitors which has recently begun filming in Scotland. There have been reports that members of the cast are unable to appear on other reality series when under contract with the show so it’ll be interesting to see if Sandoval is able to do both shows.
