Does the Ghosts cast pay rises suggests who won't be 'sucked off'?

The Ghosts cast members have secured substantial pay rises. With the naming of those securing the pay rises, due it suggest we won't lose a main character?

The Ghosts Season 2 finale brought us a shocking twist. Sam and Jay got home just in time for Sam to see one of the ghosts get “sucked off.” In other words, one of the spirits of the house has moved onto whatever the afterlife is.

Sam couldn’t see who it was. It meant we spent the whole summer (and now the fall) wondering which spirit we would lose. The British version of the series did lead to one of the main spirits disappearing, but would that be repeated in the U.S. version of the story?

We did later learn that some ghosts were pretty safe. Danielle Pinnock, who plays Alberta in the series, shared that fans could expect more Alberta and Hetty antics, which meant the two of them were safe.

Ghosts pay rises hint that all main spirits are safe

Deadline reports that Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar have landed pay rises that will see them make $250,000 per episode. The remaining main cast members will see their pay increase to $100,000 per episode. In the article, all eight main ghosts were listed as getting that pay increase.

That certainly suggests that we’re not losing Trevor, Thorfinn, Flower, Pete, Sasappis, and Isaac. So, which spirit was “sucked off?”

I’ve worked with the theory that it’s going to be Nigel. Isaac and Nigel have had a huge storyline together, and it’s allowed Isaac’s character to grow considerably over the last two seasons. By the end of the second season, they are living in the same house. It would open up the chance for the ghosts to experience grief and loss in a way they’ve never before by Nigel being the one to go. After all, when they died, they could die knowing their family would still live on. Now they have to be on the side of their family, saying goodbye to someone they’ve come to know and love.

Another option is to kill off one of the cholera spirits from the basement. That wouldn’t have a huge knock-on effect for overall storylines, though. The same applies to the idea of having Crash or Stephanie be the ones to be “sucked off.” While they pop up now and then to support a storyline, they haven’t had a huge impact on the various characters in a way that Nigel has.
