Don't miss Rescue: HI-Surf episode 2! Here's when the show airs on FOX
Fall TV's newest action drama, Rescue HI-Surf premiered at a special time: Sunday, September 22. But when does Rescue HI-Surf air the rest of its episodes? Here's what we know about the release schedule for the series and when you can catch episode 2.
The new FOX show dives into the high stakes environment on O'ahu's North Shore, where a team of lifeguards "monitor the dangerous Hawaiian waters." The action takes place on and off the beach as the show explores both the professional and personal lives of the elite lifeguard team and their captain. In the premiere episode, we saw the team face intense conditions to save the lives of "inexperienced tourist surfers and local teenagers while managing their own personal dilemmas."
So what's next for the series? Rescue: HI-Surf episode 2 is titled "Mauka to Makai" and FOX has revealed that the team will face a flash flood that has swept a "young tourist away from her family and out to deep sea." Episode 2 will follow Sonny, Em, and Will as they fight to rescue her and reunite her with her family. The network also teases that Em will possibly defying orders, taking a "bold risk" and putting her own life in danger to try and save the girl.
When does Rescue: HI-Surf episode 2 air?
Episode 2 of Rescue: HI-Surf, titled "Mauka to Makai," will air Monday, Sept. 23 at 9 pm on FOX. If you aren't able to watch live, the episode will also be available to stream the following day on Hulu. And if you need to catch up on the premiere episode from Sunday, you can also stream it ahead of Episode 2 online. How Rescue: HI-Surf is supporting real US lifeguards
Because the creative team behind the series wanted the rescues to look as real as possible, the cast also went through real US lifeguard certification training and work closely with lifeguards and EMTs on the North Shore of O'ahu. And the series is looking to support the lifeguards that they're portraying in the series.
FOX has partnered with the United States Livesaving Association to support real open-water lifeguards in their fight to be recognized as First Responders. The show is encouraging its audience to send a message to Congress in support of Concurrent Resolution 41, which would give open-water lifeguards the first responder status that they deserve. You can read more about the campaign and send your support of the resolution at the Lifeguards First campaign site here.
This new show is on the top of my watch-list this fall because I've really enjoyed other shows from the creative team behind this series, especially John Wells, who is also well-known for Shameless, Animal Kingdom, ER, and The West Wing, just to name a few. The bar is high, but this series is definitely one to keep up with each week this season.
Rescue: HI-Surf episode 2 airs September 23 at 9pm, with new episodes following on Mondays throughout the fall. Episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu.
