We have always been taught to trust healthcare professionals, but Peacock's Dr. Death proves this isn't always true. The first season features the chilling true story of Christopher Duntsch, a once-respected doctor in the Texas medical community whose patients began to leave Duntsch's operating table either permanently disabled or dead.

Now, the second season is bringing fans another true medical horror story. Based on the Wondery podcast, Dr. Death season 2 features Dr. Paolo Macchiarini, who was also known as the Miracle Man. In the series, Macchiarini is portrayed by Edgar Ramirez. The actor has been praised for his performance as the disgraced doctor, delivering a chilling and emotional act.

The cast of Dr. Death season 2 also stars Mandy Moore as Benita Alexander, Rita Volk, Judy Reyes, Jack Davenport, Sandra Andreis, and others. Need more details before diving in? We've got your back. Read on.

In the medical community, Paolo Macchiarini was believed to have invented artificial organs, specifically synthetic tracheas, for elective use, per the season's synopsis. This was considered, at the time, groundbreaking work. But it didn't take long for those closest to Paolo to begin questioning his work, believing the surgeries were not ethical. The second season takes place between 2011 and 2014, shifting back and forth through those years before revealing the shocking conclusion of these terrifying events.
