Elsbeth, CBS' latest procedural, made its debut on Leap Day--February 29. However, we won't be returned to the series in March. Yes, you read that right. Despite only debuting one episode at the tail end of the second month of the year, we'll be waiting until Thursday, April 4 at 10 p.m. ET for episode 2. This is due to the unfortunate spot the show was put in with the schedule.
A new episode isn't airing on March 7 because of President Biden's State of the Union address which will be carried by all of the major networks, which includes CBS. The president's address starts at 9 p.m. Then, on March 14, a rerun of the premiere will air. If you missed the episode, and you haven't gotten a chance to check it out on Paramount+, you'll be able to watch it live. Stephen Moyer guest stars in the series opener as theater director Alex Modarian who is a suspect in a college student's murder.
March 21 sees Elsbeth preempted, along with CBS' entire Thursday, Friday, and Saturday line-ups, for the start of March Madness. The first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship will be taking over programming on the network. On March 28 the Sweet 16 will be battling i out hence why the procedural won't be on that Thursday either.
When the show does return on April 4, we'll be dropped into a brand new case which you can catch a glimpse of in the promo below!
In "A Classic New York Character," Elsbeth embarks on a case involving the death of an Upper West Side New Yorker who plunges to her demise while standing on a fire escape. Jane Krakowski guest stars as Joann who's described as "a high-powered Manhattan real estate broker with huge clients and even bigger secrets."
The promo shows the pair scaling an indoor rock wall and Elsbeth's reference that Joann's a "real climber" suggests that she means more than her athleticism. Joann seems to be ambitious and intent on getting ahead. The "howdunnit" of this case is sure to be interesting!
