Elsbeth’s freshman season is set to premiere on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 10 p.m. ET. Carrie Preston stars as the titular character from The Good Wife universe—the TGWU, if you will. Elsbeth Tascioni was once an unconventional defense attorney from Chicago. The series picks up a couple of years after the end of the original series.
Now, Elsbeth has left that part of her life behind, trying to help catch the bad guys in New York City instead of helping set them free. The Department of Justice has made her part of the consent decree—a legally binding performance improvement plan—overseeing criminal cases in New York City. She joins the murder investigation, overseeing Captain Wagner’s (The Wire’s Wendell Pierce) investigative unit.
