Hello, Bold fans! It's the week before Christmas and I wish I could guarantee that Eric Forrester and his family are going to be getting a miracle at least by Friday, Dec. 22 on The Bold and the Beautiful but that may not be the case. We're in for more tears, fears, and family dust-ups as Eric's tether to the living realm continues to weaken. This week on the soap is about as likely to give us the warm fuzzies as last week. Here's a quick look at the spoilers before my breakdown of what's to come along with some speculation:

  • Monday, Dec. 18: RJ and Zende argue over Eric and Forrester Creations. Ridge second guesses his decision to go forward with the experimental treatment for his father.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 19: Zende is thrown when a position he wanted goes to his cousin, RJ. Brooke reflects on her relationship with Eric.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 20: Finn admits his worst fear to Bridget. Cirie Fields and Matt Klotz make their Bold debut. Zende shares a startling realization with Luna.
  • Thursday, Dec. 21: Steffy's concerned she made the wrong decision about her grandfather. Finn and Bridget present Ridge with an option that makes this situation even more difficult.
  • Friday, Dec. 22: With Eric still unconscious and not breathing on his own, Ridge, Steffy, Finn, Bridget, and Brooke have to discuss his wishes. As they do this, the family recalls the good times with Eric.

It's going to be nothing but stress for the characters playing a major role in Eric's storyline. From Monday to Friday, we're going to be running the gamut of emotions as Ridge wrestles with his decision to go against his father's wishes and okay a medical procedure that's not panning out the way they hoped. Steffy, too, is going to start second guessing her position on the matter as Eric's condition doesn't improve.

This, of course, is going to set Finn on edge because the experimental procedure was based on his own research. He gave the family hope that things could turn around for their patriarch and, while he did caution that it might not, that doesn't mean he's not concerned this could be a source of major strife between him, his wife, and the family he married into if it doesn't work. Perhaps that's why he and Bridget are getting a consult from Dr. Martin (played by Big Brother's Cirie Fields) on Wednesday.

Between another option Ridge has to consider and the possibility that the family may have to let Eric go anyway like he'd wanted prior to the experimental surgery, it's going to be a lot for the characters and likely us as this storyline continues.

In the midst of all the worry and concern happening at the hospital, the soap has to keep some kind of tension that's non-medical emergency related going. That's where RJ and Zende come in. If you though we were done with the two clashing because Zende was finally told what's been going on with Eric, you thought wrong. I had an inkling this would happen considering Luna and RJ just said I love you to one another and happy couples don't stay that way for long in soap operas.

Zende had seemed to step back from his belief that RJ was being prioritized over him because he's Ridge's son. A revelation like 'your grandfather is dying' and then being given a suitable explanation for why an inexperienced designer would be given an opportunity over you, a trained professional, will do that. However, when RJ's given a position that Zende wanted, again with no real knowledge of the field or garment making at all, the nepotism is going to be too much.

How does Luna factor into this? Well, Zende's going to need someone to talk to and, as she is a young, up and coming designer, she's the perfect person especially because it could get under RJ's skin. Though it's my hope that Zende isn't trying to get in the middle of their relationship out of spite. I'd rather the two bond over design school and fall into a friendship naturally.

The writers haven't really shown us or even at least told us what Luna's design inclinations are or her aesthetic. RJ just keeps saying she's amazing but I'd love it if we actually got to see her work and her eye for fashion. She's been such a support to RJ but it's about time we got to know more about her own vision and that'll likely happen in scenes with Zende.

She, RJ, and Zende will share the screen with Big Brother's Matt Klotz this week. He's playing James, a Forrester Creations employee. I wonder if this interaction is going to trigger Zende's startling realization. I'm also of the mind that this would be the perfect time for Luna to share whether she's been dealing with any issues with her fellow interns since she began her relationship with RJ like if she's dealt with any accusations of favoritism or her getting opportunities because of it. That's what Zende's accusing his cousin of so it'd be interesting for he and Luna to talk about it as someone who's dealing with feeling like they're being overlooked and someone who may be causing that feeling in her co-workers.
