Everything to know about the Civil War movie streaming release

Civil War, one of the most anticipated movies of the year 2024, arrives on April 12, 2024. The dystopian action-drama opens exclusively in theaters. But if you aren't able to make it to the big screen, will you be able to watch the movie from home? We share everything you need to know about the Civil War streaming release.

It's the Second American Civil War in the written and directed Alex Garland film, and the story follows a group of military-embedded journalists traveling across the United States to document this defining event in history. As if this wasn't challenging enough, the journalist are racing against the clock to reach DC before rebel forces beat them to it.

The movie premiered at the South by Southwest festival in March 14, 2024, and received stellar reviews from critics. Needless to say, if fans were excited about the movie before, they are looking forward to it even more now. But these days, a trip to the movie theater can cost a pretty penny! Not to mention, it's more convinient to watch a movie from the comfort of our own couch. That said, when (and where) will Civil War be available to stream online?

Civil War will stream on Max after it leaves theaters

The good news here is that Civil War will be available to stream, but not immediately after its release. Like most movies, they will debut on the big screen and move on to a streaming platform after a few weeks. In Civil War's case, it will head to the Max streaming platform after its theatrical run.

Since this is an A24 production, we know that Civil War will make its way to Max in approximately 119 days, which is the average time we have seen A24 pictures take to reach Max. This puts Civil War's streaming debut in early August 2024. Again, this is assuming the dystopian action-drama follows the same timeline as previous pictures. Now, the question is -- will you be watching the movie in theaters opening weekend or wait for the streaming release later this summer?
