FBI season 6 started with a literal bang as a bomb went off on a bus in the city. Unfortunately, later in the episode, the team suffered a great loss while working the case. Season premieres in procedurals tend to be when long standing characters get send offs or they pass in the line of duty. "All the Rage" was no different in that regard though this one we didn't see coming.

Toward the top of the episode, Tiffany was given the directive by Jubal to be more assertive in the field. While she's been doing good work for the Bureau, her one critique in her review was that they wanted to see her take a leadership position. Her first opportunity to do so was a surveillance operation. The team had traced the bombing event back to a Somali terrorist organization, but they needed to tie what happened to a specific person.

The wife of the bomber had informed them that he'd begun hanging out with a group of "activists" and there was one man in particular that he frequently spoke of--Hakim. He hung out at a local Somali restaurant so Tiffany and Hobbs were sent in to see if they could I.D. the man since he was described as having a scar on his neck. Here is where things took a tragic turn.

Though Hobbs was the more senior agent, Tiffany took point on the operation because she's been in the field more as Hobbs has spent most of his time in the Jock. As an analyst, he's been integral in apprehending suspects by using data to track their whereabouts and identify accomplishes. In "All the Rage," however, he was getting back into field work.

The two noticed a man they thought was Hakim after they sat down but, due to his jacket obscuring his neck, they couldn't confirm that they had the right person. When he broke off from his group to use the restroom, Tiffany directed Hobbs to go to the bathroom after him. Hobbs was hesitant as he thought it might make him look suspicious since they just entered the establishment. Tiffany didn't think so because if you have to go, you have to go no matter how long you've been sat at the table.

Hobbs followed her directive and went to the restroom where he did encounter the man. He was able to get a positive I.D. and confirmed that he was speaking with Hakim, but their talk escalated quickly. Hakim was trying to suss out who Hobbs was and when he noticed the gun on his hip he figured Hobbs was a cop. Hakim shot him and escaped. Hobbs died from his injuries at the scene.

The rest of the season 6 premiere focused on Tiffany's rage over the loss of a fellow agent. She struggled to keep her temper in check throughout the case. By the end of the episode Hakim was in the wind, so we're likely to see him again this season as the team is set on avenging Hobbs.
