Max is currently in the process of creating a new adaptation of the Harry Potter franchise, where each of the original books will get at least one season to explore their plots. This has been a controversial announcement among fans, who largely seem to agree that a new version is unnecessary. Despite that, it's exciting to think how a television series might be able to add to the story.

The Max series is expected to release in either 2025 or 2026, which gives fans plenty of time to read back through the books and/or watch all of the movies. While many long-time fans still have full DVD or Blu-ray collections, others must rely on streaming services. Here's where you can find all of the movies in the Harry Potter franchise if you're craving a re-watch.

Where are each of the Harry Potter movies currently streaming?

The original adaptation of the Harry Potter series was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures between 2001 and 2011. Throughout that time, there were eight movies, including the two-part Deathly Hallows films. Thankfully for fans, all eight installments are available on one streaming service: Max.

The movies on Max are the theatrical versions, which means they leave out a few minutes of content that was added in during some television airings. Given this, the length for each movie is listed below.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: 2 hours, 33 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: 2 hours, 41 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: 2 hours, 22 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 2 hours, 38 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: 2 hours, 19 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: 2 hours, 34 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1: 2 hours, 27 minutes
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2: 2 hours, 11 minutes

If you want to do the math, a full marathon of the series would take 19 hours and 45 minutes.

Where are the Fantastic Beasts movies currently streaming?

While all eight of the original movies are available on Max, only the last two Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies are on the streaming service. However, they are all currently available on Peacock Premium to paying subscribers. The lengths of each Fantastic Beasts film are listed below, per the Peacock listing. On Max, the available films are listed as running one minute longer.

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: 2 hours, 12 minutes
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald: 2 hours, 13 minutes
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: 2 hours, 22 minutes

A marathon of the three Fantastic Beasts movies would take six hours and 47 minutes.

What other Harry Potter content is available for streaming?

In addition to the full initial series and two-thirds of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Max offers fans four other Harry Potter-adjacent options. These include:

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses: This four-episode series follows teams of Harry Potter superfans who were split into teams based on their Hogwarts Houses and compete in trivia based on the Wizarding World. (3 hours)

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts: This short reunion film brought back the cast and crew of the Harry Potter films to talk about their experiences while filming and what the legacy of Harry Potter means to them today. (1 hour, 43 minutes)

The Harry Potter Magical Movie Mode: This is a special version of the first film which includes bonus features for fans to enjoy while watching. These include production details, trivia, and deleted scenes, which can amplify the experience for fans who have seen the movies often enough to have them memorized. (2 hours, 43 minutes)

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived: This documentary focuses on the life of David Holmes, who was Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double for much of the Harry Potter franchise. Despite an accident on set leaving Holmes paralyzed, he and Radcliffe remained friends. Radcliffe executive produced the film, wanting to honor his friend and colleague. (1 hour, 30 minutes)

Before Max puts out a new version, there are over 30 hours of available Harry Potter content on streaming services for fans to enjoy.
