If a 911: Lone Star spinoff happens it could be with Carlos and his new partner (Not TK!)

911: Lone Star season 5 is on everyone's minds, particularly because it will be the first responder drama's final season. The procedural has a lot to cover as it explains Grace's absence (Sierra McClain left the show ahead of the season), wrestles with Owen's grief over the loss of his brother, deals with a surprise visit from TK's brother Jonah, pits Marjan and Paul against each other as they vie for lieutenant, and ramps up Carlos' obsession with solving his father's murder.

It's that last storyline that's going to open this world wide since Carlos, having been promoted to a Texas ranger, is getting a new partner. Campbell, played by Parker Young, will make his first appearance in the season 5 premiere. Showrunner Rashad Raisani teased in an interview with TVLine that the two will bump heads at first but that "[t]hey complement each other on cases and they’re going to become great friends. They’re going to go to some very interesting places as a partnership.”

Raisani feels so strongly about the duo that he's been lobbying for Carlos and Campbell to get their own spinoff. He referred to season 5 as "proof of concept" of what a show focused on their work as rangers could look like if given the backing by FOX. This will likely come as a surprise to Tarlos shippers who were hoping the two would be the focus of their own series.

Though that's not to say TK won't be in the potential continuation of the Lone Star universe. He and Carlos are married after all. They will, however, be going through more trials as a couple due to Carlos' quest for justice regarding his father. Raisani described his and Campbell's case work as "explosive" and "dynamic." Presumably, an element to their partnership will encompass Carlos' need to uncover the facts behind his father's murder.

If Carlos' work partnership with Campbell flourishes while his romance and marriage with TK flounders, well that's the kind of drama the keeps a show chugging and delves into the ways we can fail the ones we love while trying to make sense of a grievous wrong.

A pickup for the spinoff Raisani wants would bring yet another cop drama to FOX. Right now, the network has Alert: Missing Persons Unit (returning midseason!) and the new mystery romance Murder in a Small Town. It would very much fit in FOX's wheelhouse and give fans of 911: Lone Star the opportunity to continue on in this world just with a focus on Carlos and his day-to-day work with Campbell and his home life with TK.
