The NCIS season 21 finale left Katrina Law's future on the show up in the air, and she's not ready to tell fans whether or not Knight is truly leaving the series.

Warning: The following piece contains spoilers connected to the NCIS season 21 finale, if you haven’t yet watched the finale know there are spoilers ahead.

Oh boy! The NCIS cast warned us that the season 21 finale was going to be an intense hour of television, but we weren’t quite prepared for the shocking way in which the episode came to a close!

The episode kicked off with Director Vance informing Agent Jessica Knight that the opportunity had arisen for her to become the REACT team’s chief training officer. The only catch was that he needed an answer by the end of the day as the role needed to be filled immediately.

After Knight found herself in a life-or-death situation with Agent Alden Parker, it seemed like the moment would make her realize she could not walk away from her place on Parker’s team. However, the events of the day seemed to have the opposite effect, and the season ended with Knight accepting the job from Vance in the final moment of the season.

Needless to say, the cliffhanger left fans wondering whether Knight was truly leaving NCIS and it seems we’re going to have to wait until the season premiere to find out.

Katrina Law won’t comment on a possible NCIS exit

The NCIS season 21 finale seemed to hint that Knight is about to leave NCIS after accepting the position of REACT’s chief training officer, but it seems Katrina Law isn’t ready to confirm what the moment means for her future with the show.

During a postmortem interview with TVLine, Law danced around the question of her possible exit from NCIS after four seasons. Rather than giving a straightforward answer, Law simply told the outlet that fans “better tune in for that season opener” to find out! In other words, Law isn’t about to reveal where the show is going to take things next season or whether she’ll be returning to reprise her role when NCIS returns this fall.

Exits are nothing new for NCIS as there have been countless departures over the years, so there is no telling whether we’re about to add Law’s name to the growing list of former cast members. What we do know is that Knight accepting the job doesn’t mean Law has to leave the show, but it could mean she’s leaving the team.

We’ve seen shows break up the cast via storylines that see them split up and going down different paths in the season, so there is a strong chance Knight could take the job and still be a part of the show. Season 22 could explore Knight’s new position in tandem with the team having to adjust to replacing her following her exit.

With the summer break now here, we’ll have plenty of time to speculate about what CBS has up its sleeve for next season and are hoping Law might drop a few hints before the show returns in September.
