Lingo is back! The CBS game show hosted by RuPaul Charles has been missed by the network's devoted game show enthusiasts. The program went missing in action last year with no clear word on when it would return. With exception to a single holiday episode that aired on Christmas Eve, it's been over a year since the series aired. Now, we can count on it sliding into CBS' summer schedule.

Season 2 is set to premiere on Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET with back-to-back episodes. This is the week after CBS' Friday primetime block airs their season finales and officially go into hiatus. It's also a weekday change for Lingo since its first season aired during the Wednesday line-up. It looks like CBS is hoping that a date slot change and airing in the summer will improve the show's ratings. In 2023, per TVLine, the game show struggled to retain more than half of its lead-in Survivor's numbers.

One change to the game's format this season that could hook more viewers is that contestants have the opportunity to stick around for longer. Lingo is doing away with their one and done rules that had seen teams compete for only one episode. In season 2, two teams will go head-to-head and the winners will get to compete once more in the next episode. The longer winning streaks will be matched with bigger cash prizes and possibly more audience investment.

For example, Family Feud gives teams the chance to win the $20,000 on offer each round with the addition of a brand new car by their final opportunity as long as they continue to beat the opposing team looking to usurp their position as the winning family. I know I've found myself sitting for more than one episode when there's a family on that I hope can stick it out and earn tens of thousands of dollars by the time their winning streak ends.

Presumably, Lingo's audience will do the same though it will mean tuning in from week-to-week since the game show will move into its regular time period of 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. ET starting Friday, May 31. If you can't watch live, you'll be able to stream new episodes on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more CBS news and coverage! We'll keep you posted on the rest of the network's summer programming.
