Love horror movies? Don't miss Baghead, coming to theaters in 2024

Earlier this month, Hidden Remote listed over seven horror movies coming to theaters (and streaming) in 2024. Included on our list are A Quiet Place: Day One, The Watchers, and others. But there's one movie you'll find there that we believe Alberto Corredor's Baghead.

What attracts you to a horror movie? There are so many factors and triggers each of us looks for and/or avoid. For me, I love foreign horror features. To share an example, the Australian supernatural picture Talk to Me is one of my favorite movies of 2023. These movies don't aim for the typical jump scares or follow tired plots. And this is the same style I'm getting from Baghead.

The movie, directed by Alberto Corredor and produced by the highly acclaimed French film company StudioCanal, follows the story of an evil witch known as Baghead. This shapeshifting creature takes advantage of those grieving the recent loss of a loved one. Baghead communicates with the dead by taking on their face, allowing individuals two minutes with their dead beloved. The price to do this, however, is high. And I'm not just talking about the $2,000 they must pay upfront, but the haunting consequences of connecting with the dead.

Freya Allan takes on the role of Iris, a young woman who has inherited a centuries-old estate from her estranged father. Upon signing the deed, Iris unknowingly becomes tied to the evil entity that resides in the basement. Neil (Jeremy Irvin), a man who recently lost his wife, is Iris' first customer and is happy to pay the $2,000 fee to speak to his wife again even if for only two minutes. But that's a hard rule, the visit must stay under two minutes, or Baghead is released. The movie also stars Peter Mullan, Julika Jenkins, and Ruby Barker.

The release date has not yet been confirmed, but some sources believe the movie will be here sometime in January 2024. As soon as we learn more details, we'll update this post! One thing we suspect, however, is that the movie will be available in limited theaters, followed by a streaming release shortly after. Again, we'll be sure to keep you posted!
