Meet the cast of Ted on Peacock: New and returning cast members
By Ricky Valero
In 2012, Seth MacFarlane introduced the world to a foul-mouthed teddy bear in the feature film titled Ted. Fast forward to 2024, and we are getting a seven-episode mini-series of the same name that will be a prequel to the film. Below, we share all the details surrounding the show, including which cast members are reprising their roles and who is new to the cast.
After two highly successful movies, Seth MacFarlane is bringing Ted to the small screen for Peacock. The series is set to bring back the raunchy teddy bear in what promises to be as raunchy and perverted as the movies were. On top of starring as Ted, MacFarlane directs the first three episodes, co-wrote the show, and is an executive producer.
Set in 1993, the series follows the opening sequence of the 2012 film. The series is set to follow Ted's early life as he lives with his best friend, John Bennett, and his family in Massachusetts. Ted's refusal to follow the rules leads to John's parents forcing Ted to go to school for an education. We follow Ted overcoming the obstacles in school, his and John's relationship, and adapting to everyday life.
Seth MacFarlane is the only original Ted actor reprising his role
With the series set to be a prequel to the films, you won't see Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, or Amanda Seyfriend in the series. The only person set to reprise his role from the original movies is Seth MacFarlane, who returns to voice Ted.
Of course, with only MacFarlane set to reprise his role from the movies, we will have an entirely new cast for the series. Meet the characters and cast:
- John Bennett (previously played by Mark Wahlberg) is Ted's best friend and will be played by Max Burkholder. He is the son of Matty and Susan Bennett.
- Alanna Ubach will play Susan Bennett (previously named Helen). She is John's mother and Matty Bennett's wife.
- Scott Grimes will play Matty Bennett (previously named Steve). He is John's father and Susan Bennett's husband.
- Giorgia Whigham will play Blaire, who is John's cousin. She lives with the Bennett family while she is attending a local college.
Ted season 1 debuts on Peacock on Jan. 11, 2024.
