One of Dreamworks most fun movies is finally getting not just a sequel but a TV series! Here's what to know about the upcoming Megamind projects!

Premiering in 2010, Megamind had Will Ferrell voice the title character, a genius supervillain constantly defeated by the heroic Metro Man (Brad Pitt). When Metro Man seemingly perishes, Megamind is finally able to conquer but realizes he's bored without his nemesis. So he tried to give slacker Hal (Jonah Hill) superpowers to become a new enemy, only for Hal to become an even worse villain. Thus, Megamind had to become a hero himself to defeat him.

The film was a good hit, but not much else has been heard about it. Yet now, at last, we're getting more with both a sequel and a TV show to hit Peacock on March 1.

What is Megamind vs the Doom Syndicate about?

The new sequel, Megamind vs the Doom Syndicate, has Megamind's time as a hero threatened when his former compatriots, the Doom Syndicate, return to Metro City. It turns out they still think Megamind is a villain, so he plays along to find out just what their plans are. However, Megamind's girlfriend Roxanne is worried that this might tempt Megamind to return to his villainous life. Check out the trailer, below...

Who stars in Megamind vs the Doom Syndicate?

Notably, the film boasts a new voice cast as Keith Ferguson takes over from Ferrell as Megamind. Likewise, Tina Fey won't voice Roxanne, the character is now voiced by Laura Post. The rest of the cast are notable voice actors, with the highlight being Emmy-winning Veep star Tony Hale.

  • Keith Ferguson as Megamind
  •  Laura Post as Roxanne
  • Josh Brener as Ol Chum
  •  Maya Aoki Tuttle as Keiko Morita
  •  Emily Tunon as Lady Doppler
  •  Talon Warburton as Lord Nighty-Night
  •  Scott Adsit as Pierre Pressure
  •  Chris Sullivan as Behemoth
  •  Tony Hale as Mel/Mr. Donut
  •  Jeanine Mason as Christine Christo
  • Adam Lambert as Machiavillain

The same day as the movie comes the premiere of a new animated series, Megamind Rules! The new series follows the events of the film with Megamind, now an established hero, trying to save the city alongside a quirky team. It looks like the show will have much the same voice cast as the Doom Syndicate movie, with those villains causing more havoc. So, he may sound different, but the new movie and series will give Megamind more time to shine as the former villain shifts into the hero game.

Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules! Both premiere on Friday, March 1, on Peacock. Will you be watching?
