Meghan Trainor was not on The Voice, but she does have a deep connection to the show!

Meghan Trainor is no stranger to The Voice franchise, though just not in the way some might think.

As The Voice season 25 coaches work to piece together their teams for the live shows, the season 25 coaches have been bringing in some of the biggest names in music to help them mentor their six remaining artists in the Playoffs. Among the many talented mentors who have joined the coaches during the Playoffs is Grammy-winner Meghan Trainor, who is looking to use her years of experience to help the talented artists on Team Chance!

Trainor’s participation as Chance the Rapper’s guest mentor for the Playoff rounds has gotten many fans wondering about her history on the show, with many wondering whether she was a contestant on The Voice back in the day. This is definitely an understandable question to have, but we can confirm that Trainor was never a contestant on The Voice, though she does share a connection with the show!

Meaghan Trainor was a coach on The Voice UK

While Meghan Trainor was never a contestant on The Voice, she does have a connection to the hit franchise, one that many fans might not even realize! Trainor was actually a coach on the ninth season of The Voice UK back in 2020!

In season 9, Trainor joined Tom Jones, Olly Murs, and as a coach on the UK’s version of NBC’s hit singing competition series. Unfortunately, things didn’t go Trainor’s way and it was Murrs who took home the win that season but Trainor did help coach one of her artists to a third-place finish which is no minor feat for a first-time coach.

Trainor ultimately did not return for another season of the show and was replaced by UK icon Anne-Marie, who took over for Trainor on the coaching panel in season 10 of The Voice UK.

Meghan Trainor has never coached on The Voice US

While the UK’s version of The Voice tapped Meghan Trainor as a coach, the stateside version of the series has somehow never tapped Trainor to serve as a coach on The Voice. It’s actually a bit surprising NBC has never looked to Trainor given she’s been in the industry for over a decade now and has so much to offer artists.

Although NBC has never tapped Trainor to be a coach on The Voice, Trainor has appeared as a judge on a few stateside reality competition series including FOX’s The Four: Battle for Stardom as well as E!’s Clash of the Cover Bands. She also was a judge of the food series Top Chef Family Style, so she clearly has plenty of experience serving as a judge on the series. We can only hope NBC might one day tap Trainor to join The Voice cast in a coaching role when an open coach’s chair becomes available!
