6 NCIS stars we hope make a cameo in NCIS: Tony & Ziva

With Tony & Ziva ready for their big spin-off, here are a few NCIS characters we hope show up in the new series!
“Everything Starts Somewhere” – Flashbacks reveal the murder case that first introduced young Gibbs (Sean Harmon) to NCIS and his introduction to young, new-to-America Ducky (Adam Campbell), on the 400th episode of NCIS, Tuesday, Nov. 24 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Fans are getting more excited about the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva spinoff, which will bring back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as the beloved characters they originated on NCIS. But what other NCIS characters could pop up?

It’s amazing to think that Tony and Ziva haven’t been shown in the same scene together since NCIS Season 11. De Pablo suddenly leaving the show was a surprise with Ziva written off as on the run and then seemingly killed. Tony discovered the pair had a daughter, Tali, and left to raise her in Paris. Ziva later turned up alive and she and Tony reunited off-screen.

The new show is set to have them running a security firm, but they are forced on the run when someone attacks them. It’s going to be a different feel than the other NCIS series. However, there is hope that some characters from the NCwill make some appearances, either in quick cameos or full guest-star roles. Here are the top NCIS characters we’d love to see meeting Tony and Ziva!

Unseen Improvements
“Unseen Improvements” – NCIS tracks a stolen laptop to the uncle of a young boy, Phineas (Jack Fisher), Gibbs’ former neighbor, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 11 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Gibbs

Let’s get the obvious pick out of the way first. NCIS hasn’t been the same since Mark Harmon left and his presence is sorely missed. Thus, bringing him for a guest appearance in this show is the best bet. It’d be fun to tease Gibbs throughout the first season, then have him pop up to bail Tony and Ziva out of trouble in the finale.

It shows how much Gibbs cares for his “kids” and is willing to do whatever it takes to help them. Of course, it’d also be fun to see a couple of good old Gibbs head slaps to the couple, and having Gibbs back in any form would be a boon to the spin-off.

Algún Día
“Algún Día” – The NCIS team must help Torres when he puts his future at stake by confronting the man who tormented his family when he was a child, on the 21st season premiere of the CBS Original series NCIS, Thursday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. McGee

It might be a shorter cameo, given how he’s busier on the main series, but having McGee show up via a video call would be nice. The trio has always had a great bond, and McGee has kept in touch with Tony since then. So, showing up to talk to them about what’s happening and offering help is logical.

There’s also showing how Tony may still needle McGee on his name but has come to respect and like him as a friend with Ziva backing him too. The trio reunited on screen is something fans would love to see happen and we can only hope it might in NCIS: Tony & Ziva.

"Recovery" -- The team is required to complete mandatory psych evaluations with a crisis counselor, and Gibbs is most concerned about Abby's (Pauley Perrette) recurring nightmares since the bombing, on NCIS, Tuesday, Oct. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Abby

This could be tricky as Pauley Perrette has been upfront about the issues she had filming the show. But having Abby brought back in this spinoff would be terrific.

She can fit the story as she’s been busy running her charity organization overseas, so she could run into Tony and Ziva during one of their adventures and perhaps provide the pair with some help along the way. Seeing Abby out of the lab and perhaps even changing her goth style a bit would be an eye-opener for the pair as well as for fans. Plus, Abby’s sense of humor can lighten up the series and allow Perrette a better time with the spinoff.

Rule 91
“Rule 91” – While pursuing a dangerous arms dealer, the team is shocked when Bishop is implicated in an old NSA leak. Also, Gibbs and Marcie (Pam Dawber) realize that the killer they’ve been tracking may be onto them, on the 18th season finale of NCIS, Tuesday, May 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Pictured: Emily Wickersham as NCIS Special Agent Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop. Photo: Cliff Lipson/CBS ©2021 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved. /

Bishop

This can be a surprising cameo but one that works. The last we saw of Emily Wickersham’s analyst was her going on an undercover job with the CIA. That makes it reasonable that she becomes involved in whatever mess Tony and Ziva have gotten into, perhaps being sent by the CIA to keep tabs on them.

They could also reach out to her for some help and it’d be fun seeing Bishop and Ziva trading Tony stories with him stuck in the middle. Plus, finding out just what Bishop has been up to since leaving NCIS can mitigate her rough exit for fans and help her shine again.

Run and Gun
“Run and Gun” – After passing her medical and psych evaluations, Tennant is surprised to see Sam Hanna conducting her final interview to clear her return to work. Also, when the team discovers a breach in the U.S. Marshal’s database, Sam joins Tennant in Las Vegas to locate the hacker, on part one of the season three premiere of the CBS Original series NCIS: HAWAI’I, Monday, Feb. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for /

Jane Tennant

NCIS: Hawaii fans are still ticked about the show being canceled. Something that can mitigate things would be for Vanessa Lachey’s agent to show up on the spinoff. It may seem odd, but perhaps Tennant’s mission involving former mentor Maggie merges with whatever Tony and Ziva are up to. It can also give some much-needed closure for the NCIS: Hawaii finale, and if Tennant brings a couple of her friends with her, all the better. It might be just a brief team-up, but it is worth it to expand the NCIS world.

Subject 17
“Subject 17” - Pictured: Linda Hunt (Henrietta "Hetty" Lange). While Callen suspects Hetty of keeping secrets about his past and Joelle surfaces in her quest to capture Katya, NCIS must track down an informant whose life is in danger. Also, Kensi and Deeks work to expand their family, on the 13th season premiere of NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, Oct. 10 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on the CBS app and Paramount+. Screen Grab/CBS ©2021 /

Hetty Lange

Linda Hunt had to bail out on the last season of NCIS: Los Angeles due to health concerns with it up in the air just what happened to Hetty. NCIS: Tony & Ziva gives a great chance to bring her back, as Hetty could be up to her usual shady tricks overseas and run into Tony and Ziva on a mission.

Just the sight of Hetty drinking tea while the pair bicker is comedy gold and promises some good fun. It would be lovely to see Hetty back in NCIS and give Hunt the send-off her own series couldn’t provide.
