NCIS season 21, episode 8, "Heartless," put Parker in a position where he literally held someone’s heart in his hands. What happened when a surgeon was kidnapped and killed? Let’s go over the events of the episode!

The team was called in to investigate the abduction and murder of Commander Erik Harper, a surgeon who specializes in removing rare heart tumors from patients. He normally worked with a colleague, Dr. Clara Logan, but recently stepped back from performing surgeries.

While at the crime scene, Jimmy noticed that there was blood on his scrubs that did not appear to belong to him. Kasie confirmed this was true and they realize that most likely, the doctor was abducted to perform a secret surgery to save someone’s life.

The team soon find out that their victim had recently developed a hand tremor, which affected his ability to perform surgeries. Due to DNA evidence and his own recording during his abduction, they learned that the person who abducted him was Carlos Savina, a Colombian drug leader. However, because he couldn’t perform the surgery, he was killed.

Director Vance, who is back from medical leave, was determined to arrest Savina. NCIS had been tasked to go after the drug lord before when he used maritime routes to move his goods and two agents were killed.

While Parker was with Dr. Logan discussing Harper’s medical issues, she was attacked by the kidnappers. Since it was three men against him, Parker posed as a doctor, but not before recording the abduction and sending an emergency text to the team. Thanks to the video, Kasie was able to figure out who the men were and where they were heading since they stole a van that had a tracker on it.

Meanwhile, Parker and Logan were taken to a location where an actual medical operating room was been built. They had to do the surgery on Savina otherwise they would be killed. Even though Parker was nervous, considering he isn’t a surgeon, he helped Logan perform the surgery to remove the tumor. The team arrived to rescue them and Vance got to have his moment of arresting Savina once and for all.

During the episode, Parker had dealt with a painfully stiff neck. Despite not wanting help to combat the issue, he did try various methods from the team. What ended up happening was Nick used his own technique: giving Parker a back-breaking bear hug. And it worked!

This meant Parker and Nick would be able to play a basketball game they were looking forward to. We love seeing their friendship moments even if we may not see the game itself!

Overall, this was a good episode and it’s hard to believe we’re now two episodes away from the season finale.
