Night Court is bringing us some holiday spirit with a special Christmas episode before the official premiere of the second season! Get ready for "The Night Court Before Christmas" to be broadcast on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023. What time do you need to tune in to watch it?

The Night Court holiday special airs at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC right after the premiere of Jon Cryer and Abigail Spencer's new family sitcom, Extended Family. The episode will be available to stream on Peacock the next day if you can't catch it live. The platform offers two subscription plans: with ads for $5.99/month or without ads for $11.99/month. We shared a breakdown of the air time based on time zone below:

Release time by time zones

  • Eastern - 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Central - 7:30 p.m. CT
  • Pacific - 10:30 p.m. PT
  • Mountain - 9:30 MT

So what can we expect to see in the Christmas episode? We shared the official synopsis below:

"It's Christmastime at Night Court; Abby enlists Dan on her quest to track down a little girl's letter to Santa; Gurgs'; gift for Dan isn't what she expected; Olivia is haunted by a witness who believes herself to be the Ghost of Christmas Present."

Hmm, it all sounds so interesting! And the show actually has a treat for us. NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar guest stars in the episode as himself. I wonder what he's doing at night court!? Plus, actress and comedian Maria Bamford is the one playing the witness who thinks she's Ghost of Christmas Present. Holiday episodes are always a fun watch and are heartwarming when our favorite shows do them. It's a nice change of pace in the usual story. So I'm really excited to see this one for Night Court!

When does Night Court season 2 premiere?

Night Court season 2 is just right around the corner, officially premiering on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes from the season will also stream on Peacock. We don't have a synopsis or trailer just yet. Returning cast members include Melissa Rauch as Judge Abby Stone; India de Beaufort as Olivia; Kapil Talwalkar as Neil; and Lacretta as Donna “Gurgs” Gurganous.

We were questioning whether John Larroquette was coming back as Dan Fielding since he said his goodbyes in the season 1 finale and headed to Louisiana to take up his new job as a judge. However based on the promotional images released by NBC, Dan is still around (at least in the premiere) and at night court with his work family. Maybe he's just visiting? Are we going to see a time jump? Did things not work out in Louisiana? So many questions!

The Night Court holiday special airs tonight, Dec. 23, 2023 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
