Olivia Benson is going to have a lot on her plate! While we don't know when Law and Order: Organized Crime will make its debut as a Peacock original for its fifth season, news of Mariska Hargitay appearing in episode 2 (the episode Christopher Meloni is writing!) was met with fanfare from viewers as it means Stabler and Benson will finally be reuniting.

Now TVLine reports Hargitay is set to cross over to Law and Order in October. Details on the episode she'll guest star in haven't been released. However, the flagship and Law and Order: SVU are scheduled to premiere their new seasons on Thursday, Oct. 3 so she's appearing within the first five episodes.

Hargitay will be joined by Elizabeth Marvel. The actress is reprising the role of Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun. She was last scene in Law and Order: SVU season 22 episode 6, "The Long Arm of the Witness." The case of the week centered Carisi who goes up against a powerful judge after a rape case involving a university student gets a surprising dismissal.

Calhoun is considered to be a morally grey character by fandom. She's not the kind of defense attorney who does this work because she's looking to help innocent people who have been put at a disadvantage by the system. Skilled and ambitious, Calhoun is aware that some of her clients are deplorable but that doesn't stop her from doing her utmost as their lawyer.

It's this due diligence even when her clients have committed horrible crimes that makes her great at her job and has caused tension between her and the SVU. However, Calhoun has also represented them and carried through in her defense with the same precision and aggressiveness she shows in all of her case work.

With Benson and Calhoun both in a Law and Order episode together, we can expect a good hour. Both Hargitay and Marvel our powerhouse actresses that make you sit up and pay attention when they're on screen. Whether or not this episode will spill into Law and Order: SVU is unknown. We'll keep you posted as more information comes in.

Not much has been teased about SVU season 26. Fans can expect Det. Terry Bruno to get more screen time as Kevin Kane has been promoted to a series regular. He joined the cast last season as a member of the Bronx unit who then made the transition to the Manhattan team. Juliana Aidén Martinez will also be in the season as a series regular. The name of the detective the actress is playing has yet to be announced.
