It’s finally that time of year when we can get excited for the fall television schedule to begin! However, one network in particular will be short on premieres for September 2024: CBS. Instead of every one of their new and returning shows coming back during the regular schedule, a good majority of them are premiering in October. So which five shows are premiering in September?

Even though a majority of the shows coming in September are not the standard procedural or comedy shows, we will still have a dose of reality among the returning and new players. In addition, we will get to see a sneak peek of a new series, Kathy Bates’ Matlock, after the airing of CBS football on Sunday, Sept. 22.

If you are into news and investigative series, then you will be able to mark your calendars for two of the best-known shows, 48 Hours and 60 Minutes.

CBS will kick things off with Survivor, the hit reality competition show will return for season 47 on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8/7c with a two-hour premiere before moving to its regular 90-minute timeslot on Sept. 25. While there has been no official announcement about the cast so far, new teases from the network and social media have introduced viewers to some of the contestants.

Matlock is a reboot of the 1980's show and will star Bates in the title role as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a lawyer who returns to the job after her husband’s gambling causes them to lose money. The show was created by Jenni Snyder Urman, known for her work on Jane The Virgin.

Viewers will be able to watch a sneak peek of the show on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c when it airs after football. Its regular timeslot is set for Thursdays beginning on Oct. 10 at 10/9c. The show also stars Leah Lewis, Jason Ritter, Skye P. Marshall, Beau Bridges, and David Del Rio.

The Summit is new reality show will follow 16 individuals as they trek the New Zealand Alps in the hopes of winning the $1 million dollars they are each carrying in backpacks. During the two weeks of travel, they must overcome “the dangerous terrain, unforgiving Antarctic winds, heart-pounding challenges and gut-wrenching eliminations” as they target the peak of a mountain they must reach.

A sneak peek of the new series, which stars Manu Bennett as the host, will air on Sunday, Sept. 29. For east coast viewers it will air from 9-10:30 PM while west coast viewers can watch it at 8:30-10:00 PM. Viewers who miss out on the sneak peek will get to watch an encore showing on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The show will then return on Wednesday, Oct. 16 for its regular 9:30/8:30c timeslot.

60 Minutes will air its 57th season premiere on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 7/6c before the premiere of Matlock.

The 37th season premiere of 48 Hours is slated to air on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9/8c. The investigative series will continue documenting cases and investigating crimes that have been reported on in the news.

Even though it will still be a long wait for the rest of the CBS fall television shows, we will have some exciting reality shows and news segments to watch in anticipation of the rest of the season. Below you'll find the October premiere dates for the remaining shows on the fall
