Please, Bold and the Beautiful don't put us back on Katie and Bill's merry-go-round

Look, I cannot deny that Don Diamont and Heather Tom exude chemistry. Some of their most powerful work on The Bold and the Beautiful has been in scenes with each other. There's no doubt that there's a palpable connection between Katie Logan and Bill Spencer. My heart warmed at the way Katie teased Bill during her interrogation of him and Poppy once she learned of their relationship. Here's the thing though, I don't want Batie back together.

This is not because I prefer Katie with Carter, I don't. Or Bill with Poppy, I don't. It's that the soap has struggled to make these two work since the decision was made to put Bill with Katie's sister, Brooke, the Queen of Love herself. The ship has never recovered from that choice because the writers insisted that given the opportunity to get back with Brooke, Bill would leap at it. I'm still not over the time Bill was firmly rejected by Brooke and so he pivoted to trying to win Katie back mere moments after he had just been talking about a lifetime of love with her sister.

The two have yet to get over this hurdle in their relationship. It was what kept Katie from trying again with Bill when he pursued her relentlessly. But now it seems that The Bold and the Beautiful is possibly ready to open the door to Batie, or put Katie in the middle of a love triangle that it's hard to imagine anyone would want. See during her interrogation, and her talk with Brooke and Donna the following day at Forrester Mansion, Katie had a touch of the green-eyed monster.

So much so that I began to wonder if the writers had quietly broken up her and Carter, especially since she said something akin to entertaining the idea of a reunion with Bill. I'd like to know since when but that piece of character development is sure to be explored. And it's coming on the heels of Poppy opening up to Bill about the possibility that he could be Luna's father after months of her denying that he might be.

Unless we're about to see Bill choose Katie if a triangle springs forth, this storyline is going to feel like the same house with different coat of paint on it. Once again, Katie would be going up against Bill's connection with a woman he feels a cosmic bond with and her track record winning over that kind of romantic storytelling isn't stellar.

Bill never chose Katie over Brooke, it's a source of insecurity and hurt for her and that wound hasn't healed and likely won't until he does. Add Poppy into the mix, and it's possible we could be getting set-up to see Katie lose to his latest lady love and that would be aggravating considering he has more history and been through more with Katie, but we're supposed to believe the one night Bill spent with Poppy over 20 years ago and their subsequent reunion trumps that?

Katie and Bill go around and around like a carousel but one thing has been consistently true. Katie rarely comes out the victor with her man by her side without some kind of outside influence like his love choosing someone else or her health issues taking a turn. If that's going to be the case again, then we certainly don't need to be on this ride. Who truly wants to see Bill choose yet another woman over Katie when she has been there for him time after time? I certainly don't.
