The Voice season 25 is geared to bring fans of the singing competition a thrilling new installment full of talented singers and a new pair of judges in country pop duo Dan and Shay. But, ahead of the premiere on Feb. 26, the Internet started to buzz with news that the Queen of Country Reba McEntire would be exiting the show.
While judges do come and go from the series, McEntire made her debut as a coach last season. So the idea that she'd be leaving when her tenure on The Voice is only entering its sophomore year came as a shock. It's also untrue. The country star isn't leaving the show. She took to Twitter/X to set the record straight herself with the following statement:
"Please do not click on any articles that say I am leaving The Voice. This is not true. These are fake websites to lure people in with clickbait where they claim I have a company to sell weight loss gummy products. This is false. I do not sell or promote any type of gummy product."
McEntire is the latest celebrity to warn fans against sites using a person's fame to hock items that they are in no way associated with. The most high profile example thus far is the AI ad that used Taylor Swift's likeness to scam people. While some fans know immediately that these ads aren't real, there are some who don't so it's important to be wary and vigilant while surfing the web.
If the Queen of Country is exiting The Voice she'll likely make the announcement herself or do so after a reputable source has released details about her departure in a similar vein to how Kelly Clarkson left the competition after eight seasons.
Reba McEntire will be a coach in The Voice season 25 which premieres Monday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Stream next day on Peacock. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage.
