S.W.A.T.'s final season is set to kick off on Friday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this last chapter in the hit procedural's story. It's one that almost didn't happen as the network cancelled the series after its sixth season but ultimately reversed that decision when a wave of fan outcry with the added support of lead actor Shemar Moore flooded the Internet.

Now that the show will end properly with a span of 13 episodes that promise to be as action packed as ever, there's been questions on just what viewers will see in season 7. One big plot point that's on everybody's minds involves Hondo and Nichelle.

The two got engaged in season 6, so fans are anticipating wedding bells. However, the season 7 premiere synopsis didn't indicate that it's at the forefront of the plot. "The Promise" will see the team in Mexico as they're there to escort a fugitive back stateside. Obviously, it won't be that simple and things will go sideways. But Hondo is going to be busy working to save a witness from the case not fielding questions about a wedding.

This led us to wonder if fans can anticipate seeing a ceremony after all in the final season of S.W.A.T. Thankfully, we do have an answer thanks to showrunner Andrew Dettmann's interview with TVLine.

"I guess it’s not a secret — you’ll find out right away that things have progressed. You’ll notice a ring on Hondo’s finger, and on Nichelle’s finger. They have gotten married during the time away.

We did such a spectacular proposal at the end of Season 6, one that was very much like wedding vows, so I didn’t want to retread that. You’ll see right away in the very first scene that there are some rings there, and a reference to maybe trying to figure out a honeymoon. "

Dettman's response may come as a disappointment to fans who were looking forward to seeing the two get married onscreen. But there is apparently a picture of the couple on their wedding day so be on the lookout for that in an episode.
