The Office

Picking the best sitcom of all time is no easy feat as everyone has different tastes and preferences. However, if you were to ask a group of people which one is their favorite, chances are you'd hear the answer "The Office" a lot - which isn't surprising. After all, the daily occurrences at Dunder Mifflin Scranton are nothing short of ridiculous, often embarrassing, but extremely hilarious.

We all know Michael Scott; a goofy, clueless, yet charismatic boss who spends more time trying to be liked by his co-workers than actually doing any work. Most of the time, we all wondered how he even got his job. But in between all the jokes and pranks, there are little moments of brilliance scattered throughout that showcase Michael can also be really clever.

On the same note, The Office isn't just non-stop comedy. Sure, you'll laugh a lot, but you'll also cheer for many romantic relationships, dislike characters such as Todd Packer, and even shed a tear or two in emotional moments such as Michael's farewell. Overall, this series has everything that characterizes a good sitcom. Maybe the first and last two seasons aren't on the same level of quality as the others, but you'll have a great time watching (or re-watching) it without a doubt.

Friends

If it isn't our favorite comfort series.

There's a reason why the phrase "nothing beats the classics" is a thing, and Friends is the definite proof of that. How could you not love this series? While it has many great things going for it, perhaps its biggest strength is its set of lovable characters. Audiences will be able to relate to at least one of them, and their personal (and romantic) storylines will hook you from the beginning and never let go. You'll like some of their qualities and heavily dislike others. But overall; they feel like real people we'd all love to meet someday.

While Friends will make you laugh time and time again throughout its entire run, it also makes you shed tears along the way. Besides, it deals really well with real-life problems and challenges, which makes it all the more relatable and entertaining. And one thing's for certain: it'll make you want to hang out with your friends in a coffee shop, without a doubt.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Watching the "I Want It That Way" cold opening of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is enough to immediately fall in love with the series. Even if Jake Peralta is a cop - and a pretty good one at his job, we must say - he's anything but a serious character. He makes for a pretty whimsical and even childish protagonist who's easy to root for. The rest of the ensemble of characters in the series are all lovable and make for the most ridiculous situations you could imagine.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has episodes so good and loved by the community that they were even turned into recurring events. As an example, the series wouldn't be the same without its traditional "Halloween heist" episodes. What probably started as a one-off idea was such a hit that it needed to be turned into a whole seasonal event. On that same page, watching Doug Judy's character appear ever so often, or hearing the phrase "That's the title of Your Sex Tape" are such iconic moments of the series that make it stand out from other sitcoms.

While there's plenty to laugh about in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the series often has action-packed moments that will keep audiences entertained. And if that isn't enough, it also does a brilliant job of dealing with sensitive topics that are worth discussing. Is there anything this series can't do?

Community

When you start watching Community for the first time, you'd probably think it's a normal sitcom just like any other. After all, it starts with a group of people trying to survive community college while dealing with common day-to-day problems. However, as time goes by, it becomes pretty obvious there's something unique and special about it.

Episodes can be radically different in style, switching from stop-motion animation for a Christmas special all the way to a documentary format to depict the war between pillow and blanket forts. And, believe me, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Zombie-like outbreaks, paintball fights in a dystopian setting, and even journeys through the multiverse are just some of the problems that Jeff and the study group will have to deal with.

While Community wasn't the biggest of hits when it first premiered, it gained an incredibly supporting fanbase that has slowly (but steadily) grown over the years. As a result, the series' iconic tagline "Six Seasons and A Movie" will finally become a reality. So while we patiently wait for Jeff Winger, Annie Edison, Abed Nadir, Britta Perry, Troy Barnes, and Shirley Bennett to make their film debut, now it's the perfect time to do a re-watch or - even better - experience the series for the first time.

Parks and Recreation

Does anybody else have the Parks and Recreation theme song stuck in their head 24/7? Much like that song, the hit TV series led by Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope is pure joy and fun. It's just impossible to be in a bad mood when watching even just one episode of any of its seasons.

Much like other series we've discussed so far, Parks and Recreation has a perfect casting that makes the most out of all its characters. It's impossible to imagine anyone in the childish role of Andy Dwyer but Chris Pratt. And what about April Ludgate? She's so dark and weird (yet extremely likable) that it was easy for Aubrey Plaza to play the character to perfection.

During its seven season run, Parks and Recreation never drops in quality. Instead, it only doubles down on the fun as time goes by. Besides, unlike other beloved shows such as The Office or Community, it doesn't lose any recurring cast members either. And the cherry on top is that it has a truly perfect ending. For a lot of sitcoms, it's difficult to wrap things up, and sometimes you end up with a controversial finale a la How I Met Your Mother. However, Parks and Recreation does justice to all the characters we fell in love with until its very end - which is a huge feat.

Seinfeld

It's hard to deny that some sitcoms are at their best when you're able to relate to them and what's happening on the screen. Sometimes it's hard to get that feeling from amazing series such as Community, as most of their episodes are so over-the-top that they become far away from realistic. That's not to say they are bad shows by any means. On the contrary, they can be completely unique while also being hilarious. But if you're looking for a relatable comedy, then Seinfeld should be your go-to option.

For most of your day-to-day problems, you could find a quote or reference from Seinfeld, and that's no exaggeration. To add a cherry on top, the series is genuinely funny throughout its entire run. While the series looks dated if you watch it now, it doesn't feel that way. Its writing has passed the test of time, and its jokes land even if many years have passed since its premiere. I guess you could say this comedy is truly timeless.
