The newest episode of SWAT seems like it will be diving into a new relationship for Tan while also bringing back an arc that involved Nichelle earlier this season. What can we expect from SWAT season 7, episode 11 when it airs on Friday, May 3?

When we last saw Squad 20, they had finished up a case involving a sniper. At the end of the episode, Deacon had officially left his badge in his locker after handing SWAT Academy over to Tan. But does this really mean his tenure is over? While there is always a possibility things will turn around by the end of the season, there’s a lot to look forward to in the newest episode, “Whispers.”

SWAT season 7, episode 11 promo and synopsis

While the promo for the episode did not give us much to work with, we did see a brief shot of someone who looks like Tan dressed to the nines and being stealthy outside of what appears to be a church. Plus, it also looks like he is in danger of being shot when he has no protective gear since he is not on duty. So what is happening to Tan?

In the synopsis, it mentions that Tan is at a black-tie dinner with a new love interest when mercenaries attack. Most likely, this new lady in his life is the journalist, Olivia Navarro, who we met a couple of episodes back when the team was attempting to stop a doomsday prepper whose son had abducted a young woman. There was heavy flirtation between the two and it would be great to see Tan find happiness after what he recently went through in his last relationship.

But of course in the world of SWAT, what can go wrong will go wrong!

The full synopsis states, “Tan finds himself on a one-man mission to save his new love interest and her journalist co-workers when mercenaries take over a black-tie correspondents’ dinner. After the group escapes, it’s up to SWAT to track down the well-trained gunmen before anyone else is killed. Meanwhile, Hondo and Nichelle return home to find their house trashed, placing them at odds when it’s revealed that Nichelle has a secret. And when Hicks, Mumford and Buck take a trip down memory lane, it threatens to end their decades-long friendships.”

Who breaks into Hondo and Nichelle's home?

As for the storyline between Hondo and Nichelle, we can only speculate that this could have something to do with her former co-worker, Bruce. He had framed Nichelle and almost got her in trouble at work. But then he tried to get her to recommend him for a new job even though he was in the wrong. He trashed the community center and Nichelle told him she was willing to give him a second chance to do better in his life and she wouldn’t tell Hondo.

Plus, the actor who portrays Bruce, Walter Fauntleroy, posted on his Instagram that we’d be seeing Bruce again. We are looking forward to seeing what happens when he returns! There is sure to be conflict over Nichelle not having told Hondo what happened, but we know they will come back stronger than ever!

As for the storyline involving Commander Hicks, it looks like we’ll be seeing some familiar faces who have not been on-screen in years. Jack Mumford is a retired SWAT officer who last appeared in season 4. William “Buck” Spivey is also another former officer who was last seen in season 3, so this particular storyline involving their return is a mystery.
