SWAT season 7, episode 12 preview: Is Deacon really ready to retire?
SWAT only has one more episode to go before the season finale. In the May 10 episode, “Allegiance,” there will be a lot to unpack as we get to see Deacon make an appearance and Hondo grapples with tension within his community. Let’s see what we can expect from the newest episode.
The last time we saw the team, they were helping Tan to catch a group of men who held a black-tie dinner hostage where he was dining with his new girlfriend, Olivia. In addition to helping with the case, Hondo also dealt with a situation at home. Nichelle’s former co-worker, Bruce, had trashed their home after breaking in.
In a way, the last episode appeared to give us a chance to close some arcs since at the time of filming, the show was thought to be over for good. However, with the knowledge of a new season, we may get to see more of Tan being in a new relationship and happy. Until that happens, we still have two episodes left to contend with. So what can we expect?
SWAT season 7, episode 12 promo and synopsis
So what do we know about the episode, “Allegiance,” so far?
The case that 20 Squad will be tackling involves the kidnapping of an energy executive’s teenage son by a group of eco-terrorists. In order to put together a rescue mission, they first need to figure out what the movies are for the abduction.
It also appears that Hondo will be involved in a shooting during the course of said investigation and it will impact relations with his own community. Whatever happens in this episode may still have ramifications for the season finale. Plus, the episode will also find Deacon coming back to help the team unofficially. But will being back with the team make him have second thoughts about his retirement?
Deacon really was set on retiring and it can be difficult to get into the groove of no longer working. So if he finds that he actually is not as ready as he thought he was, would he go back to the team? How would this impact his personal life? These are all things that we’re looking forward to finding out, considering Hondo still has to put a new team together.
It’ll be exciting to see who Hondo ends up placing on 20 Squad permanently We know people like Cabrera, Alfaro, and Rocker have all been amazing additions to the crew. They would be a great fit since they have worked together before to help the team when they were down an officer. But it would also make for a fun new season to see a new cast of characters come together.
Whoever ends up joining 20 Squad, we’re looking forward to the rest of the season and what will happen in the finale, which is set to air on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Unfortunately, the promo for “Allegiance” did not give us much new information on what we can expect in the episode.. They reused footage from the previous episode and some shots of the SWAT vehicles going down the road. So whatever is happening, we will be surprised when we watch on our screens.
As season 7 winds down, you can watch the episodes on Fridays on CBS at 8/9c. Episodes from the previous seasons can also be found on Paramount+.
