The Law & Order shows are taking a brief break, but it will be back sooner than you think! Here are all the details you need to know about when new episodes air.
All three Law & Order shows had a huge delay for their current seasons thanks to the Hollywood strikes. As soon as they ended, NBC pushed production ahead, so Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: Organized Crime all returned on January 18. The shows have been going strong, although a couple of breaks, including one for the State of the Union address.
The shows all aired on March 21, but we will be taking March 28 and April 4 off. It seems it’s the typical Easter weekend break, with the shows also not wanting to compete against the later rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
There has been good news for fans as Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU got renewals for Seasons 24 and 26 respectively. There’s still a decision to be made on Law & Order: Organized Crime getting a fifth season.
All three shows have seen shifts, the biggest being Sam Waterston leaving his iconic role of Law & Order’s Jack McCoy with Tony Goldwyn joining as his replacement, Nicholas Baxter. So, with such strong episodes, when does Law & Order Thursdays return?
When do the Law & Order shows return?
As shown by the promos, all three shows will return on Thursday, April 11. It has to be remembered the episode count for the shows has been limited to 13 due to the strikes, so NBC is spreading them out to make the May finales.
The episode titles haven’t been revealed, although the mothership Law & Order has Maroun working to help a Ukrainian refugee who is involved in a crime, which may complicate the case. That should be an overdue spotlight on the character trying to find justice for this victim.
Law & Order: SVU has an episode directed by Mariska Hargitay with the team tracking a pack of abusers and it appears Benson is in a cat and mouse game against their leader. It’s a big focus on Benson and interesting to see Hargitay stepping behind the camera for the show.
Law & Order: Organized Crime kicks off a new storyline as Stabler learns his younger brother Joe Jr. may be involved with a drug dealing syndicate. This puts Stabler in the crosshairs of trying to keep his family safe in this mess.
So it’ll be a break of a few weeks for all three Law & Order shows, but they will likely make it up with some huge drama when they finally return to NBC on Thursday, April 11.
