The Neighborhood season 6 premiere honors Wendell Johnson (Dedication explained)
By Cody Schultz
After a longer-than-anticipated break, The Neighborhood kicked off its sixth season on Feb. 12 as CBS's hit comedy returned with a hilarious opening episode. Following an episode full of laughs, the premiere ended with a bit of a more somber note as the show honored a late member of its crew.
As the season 6 premiere, "Welcome to the Foos Box", came to a close with a tribute to Wendell Johnson. Accompanying a photo of Johnson was a sweet message that read, "Thank you for all you gave us, we will miss you." The message was designed to honor the late Johnson, who sadly passed away last October.
While Johnson was not part of the cast, he was a beloved member of the production team who worked on several seasons of the show. According to his IMDB credits, Johnson worked on a total of 33 episodes of The Neighborhood across seasons 2, 4, and 5 with his final episode on the show coming in the show's fifth season with season 5 episode 9, "Welcome to Our Time."
Johnson worked behind the scenes to help bring the show to life and enjoyed several decades in the industry working on a number of hit comedies. In addition to The Neighborhood, Johnson worked on a number of beloved shows including The Upshaws, Kevin Cain Wait, iCarly, The Exes, Whitney, The Game, and Girlfriends.
According to a Go Fund Me set up in Johnson's honor to help his family, he began his career at Paramount Studios as a page before moving into the art department where he was able to combine his love for movies and his talent for art. He then worked his way through the ranks from production assistant to set designer to production designer.
On behalf of the Hidden Remote team, our thoughts are with Johnson's loved ones including his wife and two children and the entire Neighborhood cast and crew.
