The Rookie didn't air a new episode on April 16, here's when the show returns

Fans of The Rookie unfortunately have to wait another week for a new episode, since ABC aired a rerun on Tuesday, April 16. This is especially tough because the previous episode delivered a stunning blow that left fans reeling. Luckily, with the news that the show has been renewed, there is always hope that things will improve. So when will a new episode air?

The previous episode left fans of the pairing of Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen reeling when Tim broke up with Lucy. After he risked his job to go rogue in following someone from his past, Tim ended things out of guilt in not communicating with Lucy about what was going on. He also felt that she deserved better than him. It was a shocking decision, and hopefully they will be able to work things out.

Just recently, ABC announced they would renew the show for season 7. So if worse comes to worst and the couple are not able to patch up their relationship by season six’s finale, at least they will have the opportunity next season. However, fans would surely prefer this happen before the season ends. 

They are the most popular couple on social media so it will be interesting to watch how they move forward after the events of the last episode.

With the mid season break now happening for most shows, the first rerun on April 16 was “Trouble in Paradise,” which centered on John Nolan’s honeymoon with his wife, Bailey Nune. 

So is there a new episode coming next week? That’s more bad news, unfortunately. The new episode is not airing next week either. There will be another rerun in its place, which is going to be season 6, episode 4 “Training Day,” which follows Officer Aaron Thorsen’s return to work after being assaulted.

However, this is likely to be the last rerun of the season, depending on how the final few episodes are placed on the schedule. The number of episodes left in the season has not been officially confirmed, but hopefully it won't mean anymore reruns until the end!

In the next new episode, “Crushed,” which is set to air on Tuesday, April 29, it will follow an investigation into the disappearance of two teenage girls. According to the synopsis for the episode, “When two teenagers go missing, it is up to the entire team to find the girls and uncover the truth behind their disappearance. Meanwhile, Lopez and Harper are on a different kind of investigation the search for the perfect nanny.”

The preview for the new episode showed Lucy trying to comprehend the breakup, as Sergeant Wade Grey grew concerned about Tim’s mental health in the wake of everything that happened. He has the department shrink shadow Tim on patrol to make sure he is doing well on the job.
