Tracker episode 11 preview: Introducing Colter's sister Dr. Dory Shaw
Tracker is rolling along its first season, and this week’s episode looks to be big, especially when it introduces us to Colter Shaw’s sister! Can she hold the key for Colter’s search for answers to his past?
Tracker has been working on CBS primarily thanks to the “one and done” episodes as Colter Shaw heads to a different spot to help someone in need and then moves on. So, in Episode 10, Colter aided his lawyer friend Reenie in finding a father and daughter whose plane had crashed in the woods.
Of course, it couldn’t be that easy as Colter discovered this was tied into smuggling and a Russian killer. He eventually managed to save everyone and take the killer down, with Reenie seeing a little action and helping out.
Colter is still haunted by the discovery his father, who he always thought was just a college professor who snapped and took the family “off the grid,” was really a government contractor. It’s made him wonder if there’s more behind his dad’s death (seemingly at the hands of Colter's own brother) than there seemed. Now, an unlikely family reunion is going to provide possible answers.
Tracker Season 1 Episode 11 promo and synopsis
The synopsis for the May 5 episode “Beyond the Campus Walls” shows how Colter is visiting the college where his sister Dory works to track down a missing student.
“When a grad student goes missing after a house party, his friends and family believe he buckled under the pressure of his research grant. But, after consulting with his sister Dr. Dory Shaw (Melissa Roxburgh), a professor at the school, Colter uncovers a trail of explicit photos and messages that lead him to uncover a dangerous – and deadly – conspiracy on campus.”
Dory is played by Melissa Roxburgh, best known as Michela on the NBC/Netflix series Manifest. She has the chops to pull off the role of a professor who may not be as action-oriented as Colter, yet still pretty tough. A promo clip from TVLine shows Dory is less interested in finding out what happened to their father than making sure she doesn’t follow their parent’s path of “going crazy.”
The main mystery will revolve around Colter searching for that missing kid with Dory helping out. The promo indicates that, like any Tracker case, there’s more to the vanishing than there seems and it’d be no shock if the college higher-ups are somehow in on whatever illegal activities are happening.
The real reason to tune in will be the dynamic between Colter and Dory. It’ll be fun seeing the two siblings interact and Dory is likely to shed more light on Colter and how he turned out this way. She can also hold a key to the mystery of their father that seems to be building up for the Season 1 finale.
It's unlikely Dory will be a regular character although a safe bet she'll be a recurring one who pops up now and then. This comes after word that Jennifer Morrison will guest star in the Season 1 finale as a figure from Colter's past which promises some fun.
With a great guest star and more insights to Colter’s past, this episode could be a key one for Tracker fans and another sign of how it’s become such a hit.
Tracker airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.
