School Spirits season 2 is officially in production! With that announcement has come the reveal that Jess Gabor has been cast as Janet Hamilton and Josh Zuckerman has been upped to a series regular. Already, the speculation machine in my brain has taken over!

The season ending cliffhanger that left us all shook in the show's freshman run was the plot twist that Maddie might not be actually dead. Instead, she's been body snatched. The event happened by accident as Janet went storming off after an argument with Mr. Martin. Realizing that she could live out the life she never got to, Janet decided to make a run for it to Detroit.

When we return to the story this fall, Maddie will be trying desperately to unite both her friend groups--the living and the ghostly--in order to track down Janet and hopefully get her body back. In the process, we're certain to learn more about Janet so it makes sense that Gabor has been cast in the role. The question, however, is whether this means we'll also be getting flashbacks to facilitate her appearance without Maddie's face.

Remember, we still don't know the story behind the fire that claimed Janet and Mr. Martin's lives. There are conflicting accounts about what happened. They say there's three sides to every story: yours, mine, and the truth. A flashback would provide the latter for the show and give us insight to the complicated relationship between the teacher and his former student.

But, if we don't get a flashback or two, it's possible that Janet will appear to look like Maddie to the living but she'll look like herself to the ghosts which would be truly trippy. Gabor's casting has opened the plot up to a plethora of exciting possibilities. As for Mr. Martin, with Zuckerman being a series regular this go around, I expect he'll be heavily involved in the teen ghosts' plot.

He's been doing a lot of extensive research on them without their permission. In the decades that he's gathered information, perhaps he's stumbled on a theory for how the kids can leave Split River High without having to "crossover" to the next plane of existence. Hopefully, he did because Maddie is going to be severely hindered if it's still impossible for her to leave the school grounds.

She couldn't follow after Simon when he came to the conclusion he was only seeing her because he was grieving. The heart-wrenching scene showcased the stakes of the situation. If Maddie can't get the help she needs from the living world, she'll be living as a ghosts forever.

I can't wait to see what happens next on School Spirits. The fall can't get here fast enough! Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage.
