Who stars in Tracker, the Justin Hartley-led CBS drama?

Along with television shows returning for their season premieres, there are also plenty of new series’ coming as the television landscape slowly returns to normal. This is true in the case of a new series called Tracker, which will air on CBS. What is the show about and who stars in the series?

The main star of the series is actor Justin Hartley, best known for his role on NBC’s This Is Us, which ran for six seasons. In this new series, he plays a completely different character for us to get to know. Tracker is based on the novel The Never Game, which was written by Jeffrey Deaver.

In the series we meet a man named Colter Shaw, who is described as a “lone-wolf survivalist who goes around the entire country solving mysteries in hopes of seeking rewards for his work. His “expert tracking skills” are used in order to aid law enforcement and ordinary citizens in solving cases.

The first episode, “Klamath Falls,” will follow this format as he is informed of a case involving a missing child, 14-year-old Gil Brown, who is suspected of being abducted by his birth father. Colter will need to get help from various individuals in order to get out of trouble.

The episode was written by Ben H. Winters and Hartley will be reunited with director Ken Olin, who worked on This Is Us. Hartley is also credited as an executive producer in addition to Winters, Olin, and showrunner Elwood Reid.

Justin Hartley, best known for his role on This Is Us, is the main protagonist of the series. Shaw works all over the country solving mysteries alongside the authorities, but he doesn't do it just out of the goodness of his heart. He's always looking for a reward in the end.

Mary McDonnell takes on the role of Shaw's mother, who lives in a California compound where she raised Colter and his two siblings. She is extremely self-reliant and may hold the key to things Colter doesn't know about his past. McDonnell may be best recognized from TNT's Major Crimes. She also has a role in The Fall of the House of Usher.

Lee Tergesen- Ashton Shaw

Lee Tergesen portrays Ashton Shaw, Colter's father who trained his son on how to be an expert tracker. He has already passed away by the events of the adult Colter's life, but we'll likely learn more about him as the time comes. Tergesen has appeared in Oz, Wayne's World, and Blue Bloods.

The series is slated to premiere on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 10/9c after the Super Bowl. In addition to watching the show live on CBS, it will be available the next day on Paramount+.
