Ridge rules against Steffy in a business decision on Bold and the Beautiful (Oct. 29, 2024)
By Sabrina Reed
Tensions are high at Forrester Creations with Carter's business proposal on the table. He wants the fashion firm to "evolve" and move from being a well respected company in the industry to a market dominating global conglomerate. It's not a direction that the Forresters have ever expressed an interest in taking but his ideas about expanding with a perfume line, a partnership with The Young and the Restless' Jabot, and reinstating the jewelry line aren't being ignored.
The issue, however, is whether taking on too much would eventually dilute or bankrupt Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. Carter did say he'd put his own capital in with the family's so they'd know that this was a risk he was willing to take himself. But will it be enough? The jury is still out on that one but Ridge, along with Eric, did make a decision on Tuesday, Oct. 29's episode that went directly against Steffy's wishes and it involves her cousin Ivy.
Is Ivy's jewelry line moving forward on Bold and the Beautiful?
Steffy thought she'd had the last word on Ivy's fate at Forrester. To be fair, the idea of the jewelry line being brought back wasn't pitched to her in a manner that would be well-received. Carter blindsided her with the idea and had already called Ivy and her niece Electra in to have a meeting about their prospects. While they were prepared, Steffy wasn't, and she didn't like practically being ambushed particularly when it comes to a decision that would necessitate pouring more money into a failing line.
See, Carter's pitch was to add a jewelry element to Hope for the Future to help boost sales. This may have been a viable option back at the first signs of trouble for the brand but it's been stagnant for multiple quarters now. Hope, Brooke, and now Carter who'd previously been singing a different tune, want to say that Steffy is making cancelling the line about a personal vendetta but the numbers don't lie. Without Thomas, HFTF isn't where it should be and it's not improving.
Not willing to take the risk, Steffy vetoed the idea of relaunching the jewelry line. It, however, hasn't died. Ridge and Eric called Ivy and Electra back to the office to have a meeting. After looking at her portfolio and seeing her growth, they decided it would be in the best interest of the company to bring jewelry back into the fold. Steffy wasn't consulted first so that does mean that Ridge has a conversation ahead of him that may not go well. But he and his daughter may have bigger fish to fry soon.
He went against regarding Ivy but it's doubtful he'll do so again if Steffy makes a decision to cut Hope's brand after all. Ridge has been onboard about letting it go and that it wouldn't be personal just business. Jewelry is back at Forrester but that doesn't mean it'll be used to benefit HFTF, and it's becoming clearer that the line's time could be over sooner than Hope might think.
