For the last 51 years, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has aired on CBS. That’s all about to change. Find out where and when it will air this holiday season.

CBS is losing a couple of things after airing them for decades. Just before the news about Rudolph, we all learned that The Grammys was on the move to ABC and Hulu in 2027. Well, the move for the Christmas movie is much sooner, happening this year!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is moving to NBC

The Christmas movie is getting a network change. It’s switching from CBS to NBC for the first time since 1972.

This is actually a move back to the network. The movie originally aired on NBC for its debut in 1964 and remained there for eight years until CBS got the licensing rights.

It’s not the only Christmas movie on the move to NBC, either. Frosty the Snowman will also move from CBS to NBC, which has aired on CBS for much longer—debuting on CBS in 1969 and remaining there until 2024!

When will Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman air on NBC?

Frosty the Snowman is the first of the two to air this holiday season. It will air for the first time on NBC on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 8:30/7:30c. There will be an encore of the movie on Thursday, Dec. 12.

To mark its 60th anniversary, NBC is sharing a special 75-minute edition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It will air on Friday, Dec. 6 at 8/7c. There will be an encore on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Neither movie will be available to stream this year, according to TVLine, although Frosty the Snowman is currently available to stream on Prime Video and Hulu. If you want to watch them on the go, you’ll need to rent or buy the movies on Digital.
