Doc’s fate might already be certain with a third season already ordered by Fox, but it seems the futures of the doctors at Westside Hospital are up in the air.

As Fox’s breakout medical drama prepares to sign off the airwaves with its super-sized two-hour finale, it seems fans should begin bracing themselves for an intense closing chapter. In fact, it seems Doc is cooking up a season finale event that will not only feature incredible medical cases but will also put the lives of the core group at risk… and not everyone will make it out of the finale alive!

"The last two episodes are, as I understand it, going to be real doozies. The medical cases are incredible, but there are people within our core group that become at great risk at various points as we move to the end of the season, and not everyone survives,” Scott Wolf, who plays Dr. Richard Miller on the hit drama, told TVLine

While Wolf teased that deaths will be coming, he was unable to offer up any further teases as to who exactly might end up in danger. Instead, he simply noted that the season will “come to a head” for the central characters, including Joan, Amy, Jake, and Michael, building to a finale that will end with a major payoff for the viewers.

"This show always finds a way to surprise and to use everything that's been building through the course of the season to pay things off in an extraordinary way," he added.

So who exactly should we be the most worried about?

Well, it seems more than safe to assume we can rule out the deaths of Amy, Jake, and Michael. This trio is far too central to the show's overall storylines for it to randomly kill one of the three off, and there is no show without Amy. We also imagine that Gina should be safe as well, as she too plays far too large of a role in the show to be written out this early in its run. And Katie seems safe as well, as we can't imagine the show killing Amy and Michael's daughter, especially when they've already lost their son.

It also seems unlikely that Richard is in danger, as it seems pointless to bring Wolf back only to then kill the character off. That's not to say it couldn't happen, as that could be worked in as part of a redemption arc for the character, but we can't see the show going through the trouble of coming up with a storyline to bring Richard back only to kill him off a few episodes later.

Joan could certainly be in danger. We know she's battling an illness that will eventually claim her life, and we know Felicity Huffman only joined the show on a one-season deal. This suggests her time on the show is coming to an end, but killing the character off would feel abrupt given that while Joan is sick, she's not quite on death's door.

This leaves us with three strong candidates: Sonya, TJ, and Nurse Liz. These three characters are by no means expendable to the show, but if the show were to kill off a major character, they seem like the ones in the most danger. Killing any of the three characters would be a devastating development that would absolutely have a ripple effect that would impact the rest of the cast, which is why we're worried for th trio.

Now, we must also keep in mind that there is always a chance the deaths could just be random characters we meet in the finale or side characters. It certainly wouldn't be the first time an actor has hyped up deaths in a show only for them to be connected to side characters rather than the main ensemble.
