SWAT is not airing a new episode until Friday, April 4, but while we wait for new episodes to come back, we do have information about the series finale of the show. Unfortunately, the show was unable to get a (third? fourth?) chance at life and was cancelled at the beginning of March 2025. So what do we know about the series finale so far?

March 26 was the final day of filming for the SWAT cast and it’s a bittersweet knowing we’re close to the end. Once the show returns on April 4, it looks like we will have new episodes until the series finale.

When will the SWAT series finale air on CBS?

The series finale is a two-parter and not only that, it will air all at once on May 16, 2025. This means fans won’t have to wait a week between episodes to learn what will become of 20-Squad once the final few episodes come around.

In part one of the series finale, titled “Ride or Die,” Hondo faces an old enemy who he had thought was long deceased. Not only will this bring Hondo into an old rivalry, Devin Gamble will once again face difficulties involving her family and her job.

The synopsis for the episode details how an auto carrier truck becomes high jacked by a crew who is looking to find a $60 million dollar car. In addition to Hondo learning that a car thief he once knew was actually alive, Gamble’s brother Leon also becomes involved in the investigation.

Considering Gamble’s family has already gotten her nearly in trouble before, this could involve Hicks since he also has Bennet attempting to find a way to bring him out of his job. Will this ruin things for multiple members of the team?

Part one will air on Friday, May 16 at 9/8c. Directly following that episode will be part two, titled “Return to Base.”

Part two of the finale will find SWAT HQ in danger as the team must bring the leader of a group of Russian mercenaries to base. This is done in order to safeguard him while his followers attempt to extort a release by threatening Los Angeles.

In the synopsis, it reveals that there are hundreds of explosives all over the city and they are doing this in a bid to force the release of their leader, Dimitri Rykov. When he comes to HQ, the Squad faces an attack and must fight to survive.

SWAT airs Fridays on CBS at 10/9c. Beginning on Friday, May 2, the show will move to the earlier timeslot of 9/8c until the final episodes air.
