We’re used to a season of The Bachelorette in the summer. That’s the way it has been since the pandemic, when we couldn’t get the usual timeline. There’s some bad news for summer 2025, though. The Bachelorette is taking the summer off.
The Hollywood Reporter shared that there wouldn’t be a season of The Bachelorette coming off Grant Ellis’s season of The Bachelor. What’s not clear is whether this is just a delay, or if there isn’t going to be a season of the series this year at all.
Why isn’t The Bachelorette airing in summer 2025?
ABC hasn’t shared any details on the reasoning for the delay. All we know at this time is that there won’t be any episodes of the female-led spin-off this summer. Does that mean there won’t be anything from the Bachelor franchise at all? Well, there’s always a chance that Bachelor in Paradise could move back to the summer months.
Bachelor in Paradise will air a season this year. It was pushed out of the fall lineup in fall 2024 due to The Golden Bachelorette, but now we’ll get a new season of the summer-feeling series. There’s also reportedly another season of The Golden Bachelor coming in the fall.
When will The Bachelorette season 22 air?
The Bachelorette filming is delayed, and it looks like this means the show will skip this cycle. The last time that happened was in 2007. The Bachelorette isn’t officially canceled just yet.
The decision was a shock to many. According to Swoon, Rachel Recchia shared that she had heard the new lead had already been picked. Filming for the season was supposed to be happening, and then the reports of the delay came out.
However, there were others who heard that ABC had been considering a delay before Grant Ellis’s season of The Bachelor had started filming. It looks like there is a ratings concern with the series, but isn’t that a problem just with summer shows in general?
Personally, maybe it’s the fact that none of these seasons are ending the way they used to. Jenn Tran ended her season being engaged but them weeks later we learned that the engagement was off. We’ve seen previous leads of both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette ending their engagements not long after their seasons were finished. What’s the point in rooting for people that don’t stay together that long after? It’s a little different when it’s years or decades or due to outside circumstances, but after a few weeks or months leads to many questioning if people are going on the show for the right reasons.
