If you were holding out hope that Justin Barber might be able to pull something out of his sleeve to save the Forresters that, unfortunately, was not the case on The Bold and the Beautiful. To be fair, the preview for the week didn't show him looking confidant so when Friday's episode rolled around, his inability to help the Forresters didn't come entirely as a surprise. But the look he exchanged with Carter Walton when the former COO, now manager of Forrester Creations, walked in the CEO office did have me raising my eyebrow.

Now their acknowledgement of each other doesn't necessarily mean they're in cahoots. They're both attorneys who specialize in corporate law. The look Carter gave Justin could have just been him telling his former colleague to deliver the bad news to the family he'd just stabbed in the back. The contract he had them sign is air-tight. While it's not ethical nor is it above board since they signed the documents under false pretenses, it was technically legal so there's nothing Justin can do.

With a galling and frankly delusional mindset, Carter for some reason thinks he can just take the Forresters' company and they will all somehow move past this. He said he hoped he'd still be able to keep his lead designer, aka Ridge Forrester, which was amazing in its tone deafness and audacity. It's hard to believe that Ridge and Steffy would stick around, especially since it's unclear what capacity Steffy would even be expected to work in at FC. But this is a soap so they, and the rest of the family, may stick around as they plot to end this nightmare and get their legacy back.

Another mind-boggling part of this storyline is somehow both Carter and Hope Logan think that him taking over Forrester will end the feuding between the Logans and the Forrester. The sense is not in the room with us, it's not even in the building. Not only will this only heighten the feud, there's a very real possibility that the Logans won't be onboard with Hope on this. Brooke is with Ridge and Donna is married to Eric Forrester, the patriarch of this family and the man who founded the company. Katie's the sole outlier.

Brooke said she's never going to give up on her daughter, and she shouldn't, but Hope doesn't give one fig about her relationship. If that's the energy she's going to move with then Brooke may want to consider how long she's going to fight for the Forresters not to vilify Hope, when she very much is the villain in this story, before it becomes too much on her and her own romance. Her daughter has put her in an impossible situation and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. What's for certain, since Hope lives on her estate where she's living with Ridge, it's about to be incredibly tense over at Chateau Logan.
